Fat Gay Vegan's Mexican Day of The Dead Celebration near Holborn

On Saturday 2nd November, Fat Gay Vegan (Sean to his friends) is hosting an afternoon (4.30pm - 7pm) vegan Mexican Day of The Dead (día de los muertos) celebration and five course meal near Holborn.  Lots of vegan food, a prize for the best dressed, a goodie bag, plus Mexican pop music.  Do it!

"Following on from the phenomenal sell-out success of last year’s event, blogger and London events planner Fat Gay Vegan is thrilled to announce his 2nd Annual Day of the Dead Party taking place on November 2, 2013. Inspired by his love of Mexico and the wonder of día de los muertos celebrations, Fat Gay Vegan is creating a one-off event that you will have a hard time forgetting.
Five courses of mouhwatering vegan food will be served as you revel in the surrounds of a central London room (minutes from Holborn Underground) furnished with party supplies sourced from the streets of Mexico City. Sumptuous visuals will be projected to satisfy your senses as Mexican pop music fills the air.
Fat Gay Vegan has created the menu, in conjunction with a dear friend from Mexico City who will be joining diners at the event. Dinner party guests will be greeted and served by Fat Gay Vegan wearing his Mexican wrestling mask.
In addition to Mexican-inspired snacks, diners will be served:
Menu
Esquites (seasoned hot sweetcorn)
Lentil & ‘bacon’ soup
Taquitos (crispy fried tortillas with savoury filling)
Crusted ‘beef’ with hibiscus mole
Mexican rice pudding
Each attendee will receive a generous vegan goodie bag packed with treats including a handcrafted Mexican memento from Mestizo Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar, a bag of Bloom’s popcorn, a pot of Pudology dessert, a bag of sweets from Need Sweets, a discount voucher from Vegan Faces make-up and a pack of MozzaRisella rice cheese.
The Cool Chile Co has generously supplied ingredients for the meal."

The Day of the Dead Party & Festival at the Dalston Department Store

Halloween is also The Day of The Dead, and this year the Dalston Department Store is hosting a huge party on Thursday 31st October, with 3 days of an exhibition and workshops afterwards, to help ease the tequila hangovers...  Tickets for the party are just £5 - full details below.

"The notorious Day of the Dead Festival is back for a fifth year. Dalston Department Store is partnering with the Mexican Embassy and Expressarte to present a series of talented artists including exhibits such as a 2 metre high skull fabric canvas by Lupe Velazquez and a photographic exhibition by internationally published artist Annick Donkers, a favourite at many exhibition spaces across Europe and Latin America including the XIII Biennial of Photography.
The event kicks off on Thursday 31 October with a party featuring theatrical performers and DJ Chilango. Friday, Saturday and Sunday is a more family orientated affair with sugar skull workshops, face painting, delicious food stalls and the traditional Mexican ritual for our loved ones at the altar. On Saturday evening we’re also partnering with the Cloud Factory for a ‘March of the Dead’ through the streets of Dalston, making this part of East London an epicentre of activity for Day of the Dead.

Arriving at the venue you will be greeted by El Catrin, ‘The Dapper Skeleton’, who will invite you into the underground chamber where you can relish in the spectacular Mexican Altar and our hexing exhibition space.
Expect some great theatrics from our actors in the party crowd and from Mexico City via Shoreditch, DJ Chilango will be bringing his trademark blend of Latin beats, Cumbia mash-ups, and electro-tropical party anthems that will be sure to make your skeleton jitter with delight."

Frightsite - Fantastic Halloween Activities for all the Family Day & Night in Brent Cross

Frightsite is organising some Halloween activities from 29th - 31st October, in a circus big top in Brent Cross Shopping Centre.  It's a scary live attraction, with actors.  Daytime is suitable for kids, nighttime is not...

"Daytime: Kids are invited to 'Tour the Terrible Tent' see brilliant children's shows, get halloween arty with make n doo. Also face painting, balloon modelling, best costume, prizes and surprises.

Evening: Zombies turn the tables on our Terrible Tent when it becomes 'The Dead Centre of Town'.  A full on walkthrough scare attraction for those that are brave enough. Set in a zombie infested circus  Not for the faint hearted with live actors."

The Ham(mer) House of Horror Halloween Party at Ham House near Richmond

This Halloween Amy Grimehouse and The London Project are taking over The National Trust's 17th century Ham House for their Ham(mer) House of Horror, with Hammer films, seances and more.  Scary!

"Following several sold-out events in collaboration with the National Trust’s London Project this year, Amy Grimehouse bring the very best of their dark side to Ham(mer) House of Horror. After he success of Zombie Fete in 2011, and the terrifying triumph of Kensington Gore, last year's Halloween offering at the V&A, Amy Grimehouse embrace all that Ham House has to offer and plan to create enough chaos to wake the dead.
Ham(mer) House of Horror is a foray into Halloween at its best or worst... 
Delving into a devilish world of sheer horror, deep within the inner sanctums of London's Ham House – the most haunted house in Britain. You can lose yourself in this 17th-century treasure trove with terrifying ghost tours, have fun with craft at Rip Your Art Out, enjoy sinful treats with The Witch, watch Hammer screenings, learn about horror film making, participate in seances and cause diabolical mischief. Not for the timid or the faint at heart!
The Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun bar will be open until 11pm

Urban Woot's Bollywood Horror & Kadiris Biryani Night in Willesden Green

Urban Woot are holding another supper club at the shop in Willesden Green, this time with a Bollywood Halloween theme, on the night itself, Thurs 31st October.  Expect lots of Indian food, a quiz, a Bollywood screening and more.

"Long time friends and food lovers Urban Woot and Kadiris are excited to bring you a unique evening of fantastic food, wonderful people and frights! You will never experience anything like this…. again…. This evening promises to be a one-off – Bollywood horror? I hear you ask… Who would have thought? Well clearly quite a lot of people in India. This genre of films is currently being viewed and vetted by Urban Woot navigator Majella – to identify the perfect (or not so perfect) film to accompany you in your horror outfit (preferably Bollywood stylee) and the world famous Kadiris biryani.
Curry will be served buffet style, accompanied by a good beer and there may be a few surprises during the evening!"

The 2013 Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival

The Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival is coming, straddling Halloween itself from Weds 30th October to Saturday 2nd November.  The Wednesday night is a special preview event with food for £25 a head with all the beer you can drink (there's presumably ts & cs with this), otherwise just turn up and pay on the door (although reserving a place on Eventbrite gives you priority entrance).  But anyway - Beer Festival!  For Halloween!  Do it!
