Venetian Bar All'Arco's 3 Day Residency at Polpo in Soho

For three days the Venetian bàcaro, All'Arco will be popping up at Polpo in Beak Street, Soho, serving their signature 'Cichèti' snacks and pouring plenty of spritz, bottle-fermented Prosecco and young northern Italian wines.  They will be serving for just three days - Tuesday 30th July to Thursday 1st August - and only from 1pm-7pm (2pm-8pm on the Tuesday) - so be quick if you want to catch this.  I suspect that it will be very popular!

"From Tuesday 30th July until Thursday 1st August, the world-renowned Venetian bàcaro, ALL’ARCO, will journey to London for a residency at POLPO, Beak Street.
Chef Matteo Pinto, who co-owns and runs the Venetian hole-in-the-wall dining spot along with father Francesco and mother Anna, will recreate their celebrated menu of cichèti by taking over the entire bar area at the front of the Beak Street restaurant. POLPO will be marking its 10th birthday in September this year.
Situated just a stone’s throw from Rialto Market, ALL’ARCO is bàcaro famed for its cichèti and regional wines that served as inspiration to Russell Norman, co-founder of POLPO, in his creation of the eponymous Beak Street restaurant ten years ago.Francesco Pinto took over the century-old bàcaroin 1996 and now shares the tiny kitchen with his son Matteo, who is the fourth generation of the Pinto family to run a restaurant in Venice.
ALL’ARCO’s reputation draws locals, cichèti aficionados and food tourists alike from around the world to its small and humble bar close to the world-famous Rialto Bridge. Named after the crumbling stone arch in the alley outside, ALL’ARCO embodies the distinctive flavours of Venice, serving classics such as:sarde in saor(sweet and sour sardines) and baccalà mantecato(creamed salt cod). It is also famed for its inventive but respectful use of seasonal fish, meat and vegetables, all sourced directly from the morning’s market. And like its Venetian mothership, the Soho pop-up will be pouring plenty of spritz, bottle-fermented Prosecco and young northern Italian wines.
Cichèti (which is the Venetian spelling of cicchetti – a word that derives from the Latin “ciccus” meaning “little” or “nothing”) will be prepared behind the counter directly in front of guests at POLPO, just like they are in Venice, for 6 hours on each day. Matteo will be joined by ALL’ARCO chefs Tommaso dall’Acqua and Lorenzo Bettio, and the three Venetians will be making everything to-order, based entirely on what they have been able to source locally – a truly Venetian philosophy. As Matteo is fond of saying: “I make cichèti by the minute, not by the hour!”"

When - Tuesday 30th July - Thursday 1st August 2019
Tues 30th - 2pm to 8pm
Weds 31st & Thurs 1st - 1pm to 7pm

The event was born when three close friends Charlotte, Claudia and Leeston were drinking a bottle of wine on a cosy autumn evening.
We’ve added a new exciting 'Berliner' style take on your classic London wine bar; at Vinery London, you rent a glass and drink some exceptionally tasty wine. Patrons pay what they want at the end, according to what they think the evening was worth and how much they had.
The concept is a big part of the city of Berlin and we feel london needs soemthing similar. You can find us at Syrup of Soot on Museum street a short walk from Tottenham court road and Holborn stations."

Hendrick's Gin's 2 Day Pop-up at the RHS's Urban Garden Show in Pimlico

For two days Hendrick's Gin will be conducting research on (very willing) volunteers at the Royal Horticulture Society's Summer Urban Gardening Show in Vincent Square, near Pimlico.  The Perilous Laboratory for the Absorbent of Natural Teachings (P.L.A.N.T.) will take you through a game where you try to get music our of a cucumber, and if you do you will be rewarded with a Hendrick's and Tonic.  It's open on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th July, 12 noon to 9pm only - and it's free!

"Hendrick’s Gin requires human volunteers to take part in a genuine and most unusual scientific experiment in an attempt to make harmonious music through cucumber collaboration and cocktail consumption.
Step forward those with a strong head for science and a penchant for Hendrick’s, come visit the Perilous Laboratory for the Absorbent of Natural Teachings (P.L.A.N.T.) at the RHS Summer Urban Gardening Show in London, 12th – 13th July.
At the Hendrick’s Perilous Laboratory (P.L.A.N.T.), scientists have investigated how to invigorate human connection with the natural world through a series of experiments. The noble cucumber is one of the most mysterious yet delectable infusions in Hendrick's Gin and through science, P.LA.N.T. aims to unearth the green fruit’s wondrous secrets. Are they sentient beings? What knowledge can humanoids garner from these wise vessels?
Individuals who attend P.L.A.N.T. will be greeted by Hendrick’s Laboratorians, who will lead the experiment to make music through collaborating with a set of cucumbers which are rigged up a piece of software that when triggered creates a different sound and style. The sounds are programmed and designed in such a way that when all played together – a verdant and cacophonic composition worthy only of the ears of the curious is created.  If successful in making a peculiar composition, folk will be rewarded with a Hendrick’s and Tonic."

The Budapest Bar & Kitchen Pop-up in Bethnal Green

The team behind the very pop-up Pasta 'n' Goulash pop-ups are back for 3 days with their Budapest Bar & Kitchen in Bethnal Green.  Open from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd July, in Bethnal Green Road, it will feature lots of Hungarian food and beers, plus bottled beers from Italy, and Hungarian spirits including the delicious Unicum, and even some local London beers from Fourpure.  wonderful!

"The team behind the Italian-Hungarian pop-up restaurant, Pasta ‘n’ Goulash, will return to east London with a relaunch of the concept that made them popular in Shoreditch last year: The Budapest Bar & Kitchen.
After the success of Pasta ‘n’ Goulash, the organisers decided to recreate their popular summer pop-up bar. Get ready for exciting drinks, traditional Hungarian flavours (with a hint of Italian influence) and Saturday night live music. The experimental pop-up bar will be hosted in two railway arches with a beer garden, right under Cambridge Heath overground station.
The seasonal menu will focus on traditional Hungarian flavours in the forms of small plates and sharing platters. Yes, that is Hungarian food on small plates. Expect dishes like fried pickles with tartar dipping sauce, a selection of charcuterie platters to share, mini vegetarian goulash soup in bread bowl, marhapörkölt (beef stew) with nokedli, hortobágyi húsos palacsinta (pancake filled with chicken in paprika sauce) and many more. The wine & craft beers list will include rare and exciting bottles from Hungary and Italy, excellent draft beers from the Bermondsey based brewery, Fourpure, gin and prosecco cocktails and the Hungarian national accelerators, Unicum and Pálinka.
The Budapest Bar was created in April 2016 and became an instant favourite of Shoreditch. After 3 sold-out summer pop-ups, the concept moves to the railway arches of east London‘s Cambridge Heath. The decor will recreate the neon-lit nightlife of the Hungarian capital with its old buildings, beer gardens, vintage furniture and its fun and (sometimes) surreal atmosphere.
Entry will be free to everyone, booking on the website is highly recommended in advance."

"For our next evening events we have teamed up with Chef Oded Oren! Without a doubt one of the most exciting collaborations to date!
Originally from Tel Aviv and based in London since 2011, Oded Oren has recently received a lot of attention, especially during his 6-month residency at South London restaurant Louie Louie, where he was given some brilliant reviews. His food has been described as 'demonstrating a lightness of touch' and 'gets extra points for keeping it clear and simple'. Using only the best quality ingredients to create delicious simple dishes, Oren's style couldn't be more to our liking and we couldn't be prouder of bringing him to you!

"Open your ears my petit cabbage! I have an announcement to share. Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur invites you to the opening of Le Crown and Cactus, a magnifique pop-up pub in London’s Soho this summer.
Le pub is a British tradition non? Well this pub is the same, but with extra sparkle. You can explore four fantastique rooms that will be dressed with style to please the peepers. Take a seat where you choose. Or stand, as you like.
To make the tonsils dance, personalise your Chambord Royale at the Bubble Bar. The landlady will guide you as you embellish your bubbles with Chambord, as well as other treats for the eyeballs. Your Black Raspberry creation will be a gift for the newsfeed! Of course, if you prefer your Chambord Royale au naturel, then that is also an excellent choice my little framboise. Visit the outside-inside pub garden where you and your flock can challenge each other to a garden game. If curiosity is calling, discover Chambord’s Champagne Cellar to find more surprises that are sure to ruffle the feathers.
You can purchase pub snacks ala Chambord to keep the tummy smiling and some more delights to be revealed very soon.
