N-ice Frozen Food Pop-up Restaurant in Victoria - NOW FINISHED



N-ice is a 4 day pop-up restaurant created to extol the virtues of frozen food, supported by the British Frozen Food Federation.  It billis itself as the World's first frozen gourmet restaurant with dishes from Great British Menu’s Atul Kochhar & Galton Blackiston and Simon Rimmer from  Something for the Weekend.

"An ethereal ice-themed palace, N-Ice pop-up restaurant features frozen trees, frosted sculptures and delicate snowflake designs. Delectable cuisine is cooked using frozen ingredients, including fine herbs and succulent steaks. The N-Ice concept challenges the stigma associated with frozen food, by producing exquisitely crafted cuisine.
Signature dishes at N-Ice include Atul’s Kashmiri lamb curry from the Michelin starred London gem, Benares restaurant. Diners at N-Ice London will be invited to make a minimum donation of £10 for a 3-course meal and £10 for a bottle of wine. All proceeds will go to the award-winning Westminster Kingsway College culinary arts school."

Frank's Cafe & Campari Bar Pop-up in Peckham


Update - Open for 2016 from Thursday 19th May 2016

Ever since 2007, Frank's Cafe & Campari Bar has appeared on the roof of a multi-storey car park in Peckham during the summer.  It's pretty difficult to find (see directions below) but well worth it for the food, the ambiance, the design, and the views across London.

"The popular Frank’s Cafe & Campari Bar designed by Practice Architecture (Paloma Gormley & Lettice Drake) occupies a temporary building alongside the sculptures on the roof. For 2011 we have commissioned two new structures for the space. 
2011 will see the launch of two free audience programmes - a wide-ranging Events Calendar and Education for children and young people. Bold Tendencies is part of the Cultural Learning Alliance. 
Bold Tendencies 5 is part of the 2011 ‘Year of Sculpture’, initiated by the Henry Moore Foundation."

The drive-in entrance to the Car Park is on Cerise Road (SE15 5HQ). Parking is available on Level 6."

We Make London Pop-up Boutique in Hampstead - NOW FINISHED



This July, We Make London, a group of like-minded designer makers, will be taking over a shop in Hampstead for one week.

"Featuring a selection of 40 handpicked designers, selling a wide range of wares, there will be something for everybody!
In true We Make style, each day there will also be a host of different craft activities for children and adults and opportunities to meet the designer makers at our launch night on the 2nd of July (RSVP required)."

Restaurants in Residence Pop-up Restaurant in Canary Wharf - NOW FINISHED


Restaurants in Residence is a series of pop-up restaurants with an 80s theme over the next month in Canary Wharf.   All tickets will be sold in advance.

"The first restaurant will be The Clove Club featuring Young Turks (pictured), which will be in place until July 3 before being replaced by A Bit More Of What You Fancy two days later.
Tickets cost £45 for a set menu of six courses. Each restaurant will have five sittings of 80 people.
The concept will be themed on the 80s, with fax machines and restaurant staff wearing shoulder pads.
Meanwhile, the art installations include work by students from the London College of Communication and a photographic collaboration between Swiss artist Yann Gross and UK's Bronwen Parker-Rhodes.
Katy Doggett from Canary Wharf Group, which donated the site for the duration of the project, said: "The transformation of 2-4 Heron Quays has been phenomenal and we can't wait for doors to open."

An outdoor bar in the Langham Hotel, specialising in Cuban-themed summer drinks, and cigars

"The Terrace Garden offers a rare outdoor venue for summer drinkers, just minutes from the luxury stores on Regent Street and Bond Street.
For the cigar aficionado, a hand picked list of cigars from Hunters & Frankau will also be available with a bespoke Cigar and Rum pairing menu. Stepping back into the hotel, a dedicated lounge and bar allows guests to watch the summer sporting events on a large flat screen plasma television.
The Terrace Garden features favourite summer beverages including Pimms cup, a selection of Champagnes from Laurent-Perrier, as well as a full range of premium spirits and wines. As an accompaniment, themed sharing food platters including Sushi or Arabic meze may be ordered."

BAPE Pirate Pop-up Store in Shoreditch - NOW FINISHED



Japanese streetwear brand BAPE (Bathing Ape) open a pop-up store in the Old Truman Brewery in July, offering special editions and rare items.

"The Pirate Store concept was launched in Tokyo two years ago and later introduced to New York. With celebratory limited edition T-shirts, to match the pop-up store’s theme, the brand are keen to stay close to their roots."

The Green Hour at The Rebel Dining Club - NOW FINISHED



The Rebel Dining Society organise regular events at their HQ in Bethnal Green.  The most recent is Pernod Absinthe's Green Hour - a 5 course dinner accompanied by 5 different Absinthe cocktails.  Each event costs £40 per head; tickets are sold from the website in advance.

Dishoom Bombay Cafe re-creates the feeling of a Bombay cafe, and offers an all-day menu of Indian food and drink.

"Waterloo sunset. Pink sky, warm summer evening. Big Ben and the London Eye to the west, St Paul’s to the east. Strolling along to Southbank Centre, you see sand, bunting and hundreds of Londoners young and old, enjoying the Festival of Britain 60th anniversary celebrations.

Dri Dri Pop-up Ice Cream Parlour in the St Martin's Hotel



Traditional Italian gelato company Dri Dri are adding to their two existing shops with a pop-up near Leicester Square this summer.

"We spent a great deal of time to create recipes that are consistent with the most refined artisanal Italian tradition as well as completely natural. We avoid emulsifiers and non-natural thickeners and we source ingredients with special care from trusted farmers and growers. As a result our gelato and sorbets are full in flavor with a creamy texture but light in fat.

Urban Physic Pop-up Garden in Southwark



The Urban Physic Garden is a pop up experience based around medicinal plants, and is open in Southwark this summer.

"A physic garden is a place where plants with medicinal properties grow. For thousands of years people have been using plants to cure all kinds of ills. London’s first physic garden opened in 1673 – an enchanting walled garden in Chelsea where the city’s apothecaries tended exotic species from around the world. The garden then stretched right down to Thames, and both students and botanical curiosities would arrive by boat. Still open, it’s been a green-fingered physician’s dream for over 300 years."

To celebrate their 125 year anniversary Coca Cola have opened a pop-up soda bar in the ground floor of Selfridges, Oxford Street

"Open for a limited run of six weeks from Friday 17th June, the Soda Bar will be manned by ‘50s styled waiters and waitresses serving Coca-Cola in beautiful limited edition ‘Hutchinson’ bottles."
