Sicily Fest returns to London for three days from 7th - 9th September, this time in the Boiler House in Brick Lane.  Expect lots of arancini, wine, cannoli, cheese, and pasta, bringing a bit of late summer cheer to the capital.  Go hungry, and take a big shopping bag.

Last Days of Shoreditch's Final Month in Old Street

The end of an era - Last Days of Shoreditch has announced that July 2017 will be their last month.  The site has been used as a street food market since 2012 when it was called Red Market - see my post here - but now sadly the developers are moving in, and preparing to build on it.  Please make sure you go in the final month - it's open Thursdays to Saturdays, with street food provided by Smokey Tails, Cheeky Burger and Crust Bro's

"Located in a formerly derelict 30,000 sq ft space on the intersection between Shoreditch and Old Street, Last Days of Shoreditch and Red Gallery have for the last eight years fostered and celebrated a community of creativity and collaboration, spearheading a movement that has made East London the cultural and economic powerhouse it is today. A bastion of honest fun and entertainment in East London, at Last Days Of Shoreditch, revellers are given the chance to escape the rush of urban life with this season's summer instalment, The Enchanted Garden, filled with a tropical beach area, swinging hammock beds, a tree-house, specially commissioned sound installations and more.
Last Days of Shoreditch became a pioneer in the area, with an original idea of mixing street food with art, family-friendly events and night-time culture. The extent of neighbouring Red Gallery’s remit and influence is vast. As a gallery, it has created an expanding archive of international subcultural movements (Ourhistory), curated numerous keynote exhibitions, events, screenings, and talks, and has been the host of local community workshops and UK university graduation shows. Its DIY ethos has innovated the ‘gallery’ format into a dynamic, community-driven space, nurturing strong European connections that have extended its reach to an international audience. The building’s exposed façade provided a canvas for promoting quality street art (e.g. Banksy, Roa Eine, Thierry Noire), attracting over 1000 visitors daily; and on the rooftops Red Gallery was one of the first to join the Urban Beehive programme. 
As a creative hub and business incubator, Red Gallery offered one of the first co-working spaces in the region, ahead of the Google Campus and WeWork; Soundcloud was one of the first tenants to move in. 
Set to close on 29th July, Red Gallery and all associated businesses are now looking for a new home to continue operating. Stayed tuned for further news on the closing parties very soon."

Street Feast's Hawker Union Street Food Market in Wood Green

Update - Sadly this will close on Sunday 16th September

This weekend Street Feast is opening it's 6th market, Hawker Union, in Silsoe Road, N22.  In an area referred to as Clarendon Yards in this week's Time Out, it will open on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July as a 'no lease, no licence FOOD RAVE', before opening Fridays - Sundays from 6th July.  There are six food traders - inc Fundi pizza, Petare, and Black Bear Burger, as seen on BBC 2's Million Pound Menu.  Well done to Street Feast for opening yet another market!

PITCH Stratford - with Street Food, a Bar & Screenings

PITCH Stratford, the street food and entertainment site 5 minutes from Stratford station, opens for 2018 on Thursday 29th March 2018, the start of the Easter weekend.  Open Fridays to Sundays, extending to Thursdays to Sundays from May, it's got street food in the form of Ticos, The Gyoza Boys and Kalimera, a bar with Camden Town Brewery beers, and film screenings too.  Go!

"Open from Easter weekend right through to Autumn, food will be served up by a trio of popular street food traders: Ticos serves up gourmet hot dogs and slow-cooked beef ribs, KERB favourites The Gyoza Guys bring their famously silky, flavour-packed dumplings to the table, while modern Greek specialists Kalimera offer sunshine and souvlaki. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available, alongside homemade churros and crepes from The Pitch Sweet Shack. And to match, draft beers from Camden Town Brewery are complemented by a great selection of craft cans and bottles (including gluten-free beers), plus a neat range of cider, wine, cocktails, premium spirits and mixers.
Pitch will bring a fresh line-up of events each week. Thursdays will be all about new experiences, with a wide range of fun activities to get stuck into. Fridays combine daytime networking with after-work drinks deals, while Saturdays come in three parts: family-friendly street food lunches, followed a good few hours of lazy afternoon / early evenings of alfresco eating and drinking, ahead of a themed party night or outdoor film screening. The Samaritans' Christmas Chorus & Streetfood Market outside Charing Cross Station

On Thursday 21st The Samaritans is holding a festival and streetfood market outside Charing Cross station.  Open from 7am - 8pm, it will feature lots of live music, choirs, and streetfood vendors supplied by Street Food Markets, all helping to raise money to help fund the Samaritans' work.  Please support this (& enjoy lots of great streetfood at the same time!).

Sing for Samaritans hits a high note with a takeover of Charing Cross Station on 21st December to produce a Pop-Up Festival and Market.
Central London Samaritans will, once again, be raising their voices, raising awareness and spreading festive cheer when they take over a central London station with a Pop-up festival on Thursday 21st December.
Charing Cross Station will host The Piano Works Live Band, London songsters and London Choirs as part of “A Christmas Chorus - Sing for Samaritans”, alongside street vendors from Street Foods Markets.
With the support of the performers and vendors, the courtyard of Charing Cross Station will be transformed into a live music pop-up festival with Choirs singing from 7am welcoming commuters into London. The music continues until 8pm.
The event will host exclusive music performances from London’s most exciting talent including London City Voices, Enchorus, Take 20 Jazz, Johnny Boy Moore, Wapping Great Noise, W3 Detour and The Piano Works.  The Piano Works set will comprise of festive requests!

The 'Feria de Londres' Spanish Festival by Tower Bridge

Feria de Londres is a two day Spanish festival taking place at Potters Field (between City Hall and Tower Bridge) on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May, the late May Bank Holiday weekend.  There will be lots to see and do (& eat! & drink!), inc lots of traditional costumes, face painting, dancing, music and more.  It's free to attend, and open from 12 noon to 10pm on Saturday, and til 9pm on Sunday.

"Taking place under the iconic Tower Bridge on Saturday 27th May & Sunday 28th May of the May Bank Holiday weekend, Feria De Londres is set to bring the vibrant and lively celebrations of Andalusia to the banks of the Thames. Inspired by the traditional festivities of Andalusia’s colourful spring fairs, Feria De Londres will be a weekend of delicious Spanish tapas, beer, wine and live entertainment, never seen before in the capital.
Spanish Ferias began in the Middle Ages principally as livestock fairs, at which villagers would celebrate with plenty of feasting and Sherry drinking. Recreating these colourful fairs, Feria De Londres will see brightly decorated ‘casetas’ line the banks of the Thames crammed with all kinds of Spanish fare, including typical tapas dishes such as Tortilla de Patata and Jamon Ibérico, as well as delicious barbequed seafood and meats, and moreish Churros and Buñuelos.
Drinks on offer will range from beautiful Spanish wines and all kinds of sherries to refreshing Spanish beers and cocktails, including the traditional Rebujito – Manzanilla or Fino Sherry with lemonade, ice and mint leaves.
Throughout Feria De Londres, entertainers will be dressed in their finest traditional costumes and regional dress. It will be a celebration of Andalusian dancing, music and live entertainment, with bands and local Flamenco artists coming over from Spain to create an authentic party atmosphere. Guests will be encouraged to join in the fun with Sevillanas and Rumba dancing lessons, along with Flamenco clapping and castanets workshops. 
In true Spanish style, Feria De Londres will be a free event for the whole family, and throughout the weekend there will be children’s activities including face painting, hair styling, art and dancing."

Model Market 2017 - Street Feast's Street Food in Lewisham

Model Market, Street Feast's Lewisham site, is back for the summer of 2017 from Friday 28th April with a big 3 day launch weekend.  Lots of old favourites return, including Mother Flipper and SE Cakery, and there also some new names, including Nanban's Japanese Soul Food.  It's open from 5pm, with free entry until 7pm, and then £3 after that.  You'll need cash for the food, but the bars all take cards.

The Just Eat Food Fest at Red Market in Shoreditch

Food Deliverers Just Eat are holding their own food festival at Red Market in Old Street from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July 2016.  Featuring food from the likes of Red Dog Saloon, Gaylord London, and Ping Pong, with dishes costing £4 each, or £8 for three.  It's going to be very busy!

"JUST EAT, the world leader in online and mobile food ordering, will launch its first ever Food Festival this month, giving London food fans the chance to discover the best and most diverse JUST EAT partner restaurants from 22nd – 24th July.
Leading restaurants from across the UK will come together in Red Market, Shoreditch, to offer guests a chance to explore and try multiple world cuisines which are all available to order via the JUST EAT app. Caribbean, Italian, American, Japanese and Vietnamese are among some of the cuisines on offer.

Estrella Damm's Pop-up La Boqueria Market for May Day Weekend in Spitalfields

For four days, over the May Day Bank Holiday, Barcelona brewery Estrella Damm is bringing the famous food market La Boqueria to Spitalfields.  Open from Friday 29th April to Monday 2nd May, the market will bring produce, plus tapas bars, restaurants, and bars selling ice-cold Estrella Damm.  Such a great idea!

The 2016 Model Market Night Market for Streetfood in Lewisham

Great news - Model Market, the streetfood nightmarket in Lewisham, SE13, is back for 25 weekends in the spring and summer of 2016, starting on Friday 15th April.  It'll be open every Friday and Saturday from 5pm, with lots of great traders including Club Mexicana, Mother Flipper, Mama's Jerk, Sub Cult, SE Cakery, and You Doughnut, plus lots of bars and #vibes.  It's free to get in before 7pm, and £3 after that.  The bars at Model Market all take cards, but don’t forget to bring cash for the food.  So looking forward to this one!

For one day only - Sunday 13th December - The Rosewood in Holborn plays host to The Forgotten Food Market with Le Cordon Bleu London, between 10am and 3.30pm, reviving lots of forgotten foods, inclding a special Fogotten Foods brunch menu at the Holborn Dining Rooms.  Please go along to support the British producers and the Slow Food movement!

We will be bringing some of the Forgotten Foods to life again during a very special one weekend only pop up which will include: tastings, live demonstrations from their master chefs and a specially designed Forgotten Foods menu for the brunch at the iconic Rosewood to mark the occasion.

Yelp's 3 Day Mulled Wine Festival in Covent Garden

It's the season for mulled wine, and Yelp has organised a 3 day mulled wine festival in Covent Garden to run from Thurs 12th - Sat 14th November.  It's free to enter if you check in on the Yelp app on your phone, and charity donations are also encouraged.  There will be lots of stalls selling mulled wine, lots of food, and also the frozen cocktail specialists ‘LIC’ will unveil their exciting new Mulled Wine Frozen Cocktail over the three days.  Put it in your diary!

"There will be three days of mulled wine from some of the best spots for mulled wine in the city. Plus mulled cider! And mulled mead! And mulled ice cream, mulled pops, mulled candy, mulled jelly shots and, of course, Christmas pies! (And also, some seriously amazing other eats). 
It starts on November 12, the same night as Covent Garden switches on its new Christmas lights.  Designed by celebrated fashion and film production designer, Michael Howells, the new scheme takes inspiration from the mythology of mistletoe and Covent Garden's world-renowned reputation as a special place to meet friends, family and loved ones. The Renegade Craft Fair, a regular twice-yearly weekend event, returns to the Truman's Brewery in Spitalfields on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th November 2015.  There will be more tan 125 vendors selling things they have made and designed themselves - plus some live things happening too.  Perfect for early Christmas inspiration!

"Now in its thirteenth year, the US-based Renegade Craft Fair returns to London 7-8 November from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Old Truman Brewery, located in East London on 81 Brick Lane. Admission is free to this event, which will feature artisan crafts, food, DIY workshops, and a portrait artist to welcome Christmas shoppers.
A selectively curated assortment of more than 125 vendor stalls will provide exciting options for holiday gift giving, such as jewelry, ceramics, home décor, children’s accessories and toys, letterpress stationery, art prints, and knitwear. All items featured in the Fair are handmade by emerging and established artisans and offer an opportunity to support local makers.
Feeling inspired to join in on the handmade spirit? Visit some of the Fair’s festive DIY workshops! Textile artist Amy Ilic will offer weaving workshops both Saturday and Sunday for £10, which includes all supplies and materials. Prickle Press will also assist shoppers in creating personalized letterpress cards at £5 each.
As a special feature, portrait artist Emma Block will be on hand Sunday to create her live illustration watercolours, in which she will paint unique portraits of guests in just five minutes — a lovely gift for family or friends.
For attendees looking to boost their shopping stamina, My Little Cake Tin will provide a selection of bakes and cakes at a beautiful dessert table. Offerings will include friands, brownies, tartlets, cakes, cookies, and more.
Oh Comely will be present with a Christmas subscription offer, back issues, and exclusive merchandise from their shop, including pieces designed by Owen Gent, Marie Gardeski and Kaye Blegvad. Lifestyle editor and photographer Liz Seabrook will operate a photo booth, creating Oh Comely “Cover Girls” as a perfect and silly way to complement any gift."

The Monthly Hackney Drinks Market in Hackney Downs

Max Kennedy, the man behind the Dalston Food Market (every Sunday off Shacklewell Lane), is also organising the new monthly Hackney Drinks Market at Hackney Downs Studios, to showcase the best of London's new drinks producers.  Open from 1pm - 8pm on the first Saturday of each month, it will feature lots of breweries and distillers, and there will also be soft drinks, and food to soak up all the booze.  Please support this!

"July - Due to sheer demand Hackney Drinks Market Late will be launching on July 4th to cater for the crowds who don’t want to leave the market when it ends and take advantage of the long Summer evenings
To celebrate our extended hours, the market will be showcasing drinks producers to satisfy your thirst whatever time of day you visit us. You can start the day with a draft Smokey Bloody Mary from The Craft Cocktail Company or perhaps a Hail Mary from The Picklehouse. 
Those arriving just before before lunch could perhaps try an Digestif from Stellacello or Cayenne Pepper Cocktail from Nix and Kix For lunch amongst other dishes, oysters will be available to start as well traditional Fish and Chips battered in local ale. Try both with a glass a glass of white from London’s only winery London Cru.
Late comers can enjoy live jazz under the sun with a selection of over 50 different types of drinks on offer. If you fancy a cold pint you can have a beer from Signature Brew or London’s first cider producer London Glider. For something a little stronger how about a gin and tonic from 58 Gin distilled less than 50m from the market or a Screwdriver made with The East London Liquor Company’s Vodka.
As the evening draws to close and you are feeling a little more adventurous why not be one of the first people in the UK to try British made Amazon Rum which has been infused with Tonka beans. 
As usual customers will also be able to take bottles home to drink at their leisure as well taste on site."

The Sunday Dalston Food Market with Produce & Street Food in Shacklewell Lane

Last year Max Kennedy created the Dalston Food Market as a new market to sell produce and serve street food.  This year it's back, for a longer run, ad the Petchey Academy in Shacklewell Lane, E8, to open Sundays from 11am - 4pm.  Go and buy produce, and also eat food from some of London's best traders inc Sub Cult Subs, Kmchinary, I Should Be Souvlaki, Oli Baba's, and more.

"Although Dalston has become famous for its nightlife, its day-life has quite a way to go to catch up.
So Dalston Food Market’s aim is to provide somewhere people can relax each Sunday and buy some of London’s best produce, street food and drink from 11-4pm.
Produce-wise there is a big focus on London producers like Tottenham Cheesemaker Wildes Cheese and Hackney Charcuterie Blackhand Food.

Plus some of the biggest names in Streetfood, including What The Dickens! Who are in the final 3 of the BBC Food and Farming awards, Streetfood category.
Drinks are treated as importantly as food, so wine will also be available by the glass matched against each hot food dish, as well as craft beer on tap and even have gin distilled in Hackney by the glass or to take home by the bottle. Plus Sodas from Squareroot and a selection of London roasted coffees.
Also for kids there will be professionally run indoor activities that change each week, from dance and football sessions to theatre performances and a bouncy castle. 
Held within the grounds of a secondary school on Shacklewell Lane the venue is a lawned oasis in the heart of Dalston. So people can stay and have picnics within the grounds. 
There will also be live music each week to add to the atmosphere."

The 2015 Asia House Spring Fair in Marylebone

The Asia House Fair is coming to Marylebone for 4 days in the middle of March 2015, with lots of stalls from all over Asia showing and selling their wares.  I loved it in previous years - definitely worth a visit!

The Tottenham Ploughman Winter Fest 2014

The Tottenham Ploughman Winter Fest is returning to Bruce Castle Museum in Lordship Lane, N17 on Sunday 14th December.  Expect lots of local produce & suppliers inc cheese, bread, coffee, and even cocktails, plus live music.  It's open from 1pm, - 5pm, and it's free admission - be there!

"The hugely successful Tottenham Ploughman Winter Fest return to Bruce Castle this December.

The December Pop-up Vintage Fair in Hampstead

Fairground & Billetto's Makers' Market & Workshops Day in Haggerston

Fairgound in Kingsland Road and Billetto, the ticketing agency, are holding a massive 'Makers' day on Saturday 6th December, featuring a makers market, lots of craft classes - e.g. Get Rich or Tie Dyeing' - plus food from Ben Spalding, cocktails, music and more.  Essential for crafters!

"Fairground London and Billetto will launch ‘Makers’, a one-day event on Saturday 6th December, which will celebrate the very best maker talent across music, food, drinks and retail. Housed in Fairground’s temporary home in a disused office block in Haggerston, a bespoke programme for both day and night will showcase the very best thinkers and tinkerers for a jam packed taste of the makers movement.
Each level by day will have a distinctive theme, starting at Level One will be a Makers Market, showcasing some of the best artisanal creators, artists, producers and brands. The Makers Lounge on Level Two will provide an opportunity for physical exploration with a diverse programme of workshops to get you making.  Top floor and the Makers Kitchenon Level Three will see a carefully crafted menu by critically acclaimed chef Ben Spalding including some ingredients selected by Hackney Hampers. Makers Night will see the ground floor switch up to a line up of talks, live bands and DJs supported with drinks, food and beats to while away the evening.
Makers Market by day on Level One will feature 15 cherry-picked stallholders that represent the best in handcrafted talented across the capital; including handmade tweed products by London’s only micro-mill London Cloth Company, a takeaway deli featuring hand crafted produce from across the borough curated by Hackney Hamper and east London’s leading illustrative shop Nobrow featuring some of the talented artists in books, prints and other fine collectables.
Makers Lounge will present a series of 18 different workshops from innovative papers crafts with paper ninja Poppy Chancellor,Get Rich or Tie-Dying the brand new inventive workshop with Lizzie King or get green fingered creating your very own indoor terrarium or plant biosphere with Botanic Boutique. Not forgetting mini-makers, there will be plenty of making activities for children provided by Victoria Park Books and Bloomsbury Children’s Books, Ruff & Huddle and BKD cupcakes.
Underpinning all activity will be a fantastic food & drink offering, with top chef talent Ben Spalding create a seasonal menu priced between £4-£8 on Floor 3. Dishes include Black Hand Pork Belly cooked in Dalston coca cola, Plaice and chips, Yukon gold potatoes, lemon mayonnaise or Whipped mince pie, Butler gin syrup with brandy ice-cream.
Floor 2 will see a bespoke a whiskey and meat pairing menu in association with Jack Daniels, Gentlemen Jack, Woodford Reserve and Southern Comfort.
For additional cheer, signature hot cocktails will be created by the Fairground drinks team to match the delicious dessert bar created by the best in class Hackney bakery Yolk, the warming sweet menu that includes S’mores - graham crackers, a layer of grated chocolate, marshmallow and Poached pears with spiced chocolate sauce on Floor 1.
Or why not match your cocktail and listening experience with vinyl aficionados Vinyl Me, Please at the vinyl and cocktail pairing listening station. The U.S. based vinyl members clubs will debut in London at the Makers event to showcase how you should be listening to your music."
