'Flavours of Italy' Food & Wine Night at four o nine in Clapham

four o nine in Clapham are hosting a special Italian night in mid-September.  Enjoy Italian wines, specially paired with Italian food, in a seven course tasting menu.

"Award winning restaurant, four o nine are set to host another of their popular Wine Clubs on Tuesday 18th September, introducing visitors to the flavours of Italy. With only six of these events a year, four o nine’s Wine Club offers visitors a chance to explore a wide variety of wines from a specific country or region but within a relaxed and affable environment.
Martin Waring, Assistant Restaurant Manager says; “Wine Club is about providing visitors with a unique experience each and every time. However, we don’t just want wine club goers to go away having learnt something; we also want our visitors to have enjoyed everything about their evening from the wine to the food to the atmosphere. We aim to offer a casual and enjoyable wine experience, rather than a degree in wine.”
Together, four o nine’s executive chef, Chris Sutherland, and wine experts Bibendum have carefully crafted an seven course tasting menu, full of both modern and traditional Italian flare, to ensure that both the food and wine complement each other perfectly.
Chris Sutherland says, “Wine Club isn’t just about exploring the aroma and taste of a wine, but also how those tones are able to harmonize with the flavor of each course. We spend a lot of time matching each wine with each dish, in order to give visitors an experience to savor.”
Although Italy has an extensive array of beautiful wine, the night will allow visitors to explore a light, lemony, Tuscan white called Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a classic Chianti that has light cherry and red berry undertones and the delicately sweet and sparkling dessert wine Vietti Cascinetta Moscato d'Ast, to name a few.
Each course on the menu will compliment each glass of wine being served. The menu includes dishes such as; Parmesan biscotti with Tuscan olives, fennel and apple cured pork loin with shaved fennel, apple and a Italian parsley and black sesame grissini and a baked blackberry, limoncello and ricotta cheesecake with hazelnut praline biscuit and candied lemon zest."
