Street Feast & Tweat Up's Saturdays in Haggerston

Street Feast & Tweat Up have joined forces to put on some very special events on Saturdays at Merchant's Yard in Haggerston, home of Friday night's regular Street Feasts.  I'm a couple of weeks behind on this - Taco Wars and the Keg Party have gone already, but there are 4 more events planned - Craft Beer Battle (1st June), Gizzi Erskine's Barn Yard Party (8th June), GinStock (15th June), and RibStock (22nd June), plus one final event, still to be announced.  Note that some events are ticketed (& tickets sell very quickly - follow @Tweat_Up on Twitter for alerts) but you can always get in and enjoy the bar, other food laid on, and the general vibe on all of the Saturdays.

"The bell for round one is set to ring on Saturday 1st June as Street Feast kicks of the first annual Craft Beer Battle. Britain’s burgeoning craft beer brewers have been invited to flex their muscles and prepare for a fight as Brewdog, Camden Town Brewery, Fullers and Meantime go head to head. Entry to the Craft Beer Battle is free but to take part in the all-important blind taste test the first 500 tickets will be £10 on sale now. In exchange for tickets punters will receive a flight of beers (a quarter pint of all eight) and, of course, the right to vote for their favourite contender. 30+ other craft beers will be on sale as well as street food and grills from London’s best traders including a succulent selection of BBQ chicken.
A star turn comes in the form of Gizzi Erskine’s Barn Yard Party on 8th June. The chef, TV presenter and columnist has chosen a glittering mix of live music including a set from punk/skiffle outfit Banjoey Ramone, Korean BBQ from John Salt’s Neil Rankin, Catalan BBQ from Salt Yard’s Ben Tish and British fare from Young Turk’s James Lowe. Gizzie herself will be whisking up Japanese yakatori, bite-sized marinated, grilled chicken skewers. Entry to Gizzi’s Barn Yard Party is free.
The first of the ‘stocks’, Ginstock, is set to take place 15th June. Tickets allowing tasting of all cocktails from 12noon to 6:00pm are on sale at £36 from 16th May. Last year’s Ginstock saw contributions from heavyweights such as Nightjar, Zetter Townhouse, London Cocktail Club, Worship St Whistling Shop, Sipsmith, Williams, Beefeater and Bombay with Martin Miller’s Gin the eventual winner. Expect more of the same this year at Merchant Yard plus the Ginstore lock-in from 6:00pm until midnight.
Ribstock on 22nd June will be doubling in size this year. Ten great rib chefs and restaurants will gather at Merchant Yard with one emerging the winner, bagging a £2000 cash prize in the process. Confirmed are Neil Rankin of John Salt, Carl Clarke; UK Chilli Champion 2012 from the Rotary Bar & Diner, Lucky Chip (last year’s Ribstock runner-up and UK Chilli Champion 2013), MasterChef winner 2011 Tim Anderson and Duke’s Brew and ‘Cue. A ticket priced at £50 will be on sale from 23rd May allowing tasting of all ribs from 12noon until 6:00pm. Live music and DJs keep the heat going at the Ribstock lock-in until midnight."
