Design Junction, the design festival, returns to the Old Sorting Office in New Oxford Street on 18th September for 5 days. This year there are six pop-up restaurants, cafes and bars, including Jamie Oliver's Barbecoa, Pitfield London, The Camden Town Brewery Bar (with TfL - pictured), and even a SodaStream bar, plus a real street food festival with lots of street food. Sounds unmissable!
"Barbecoa by Jamie Oliver
Barbecoa, famous for its flame inspired cooking, bring their first ever pop-up to the Sorting Office with a new collaboration with Modus Furniture. The menu, specifically created for the show, includes signature favourites such as pit-smoked pulled pork sandwiches and smoked short ribs with chipotle tomato salsa. There will also be a tasty selection of sweet treats including carrot and zucchini cake and red velvet cookies.
Pitfield London is a shop, café and exhibition gallery that stocks beautiful and attention grabbing homewares whilst serving original recipes of salads, cakes, brownies, paninis and more.
Camden Town Brewery
Transport for London (TfL) have collaborated with Camden Town Brewery to install a micro-brewery bar to launch brand new collections by Fired Earth and Kirby Design. The bar uses Fired Earth’s new range of elegant historic tiles, manufactured from original Underground heritage station tiles. Bespoke furniture pieces have been designed by Michael Sodeau and upholstered in a selection of vibrant new textile designs by Kirby Design, inspired by original Underground moquette seating patterns.
Chilean Wine Bar
Pro Chile will be sourcing the finest Chilean wines for a wine tasting experience at the show. The bar will be designed by a leading Chilean architect with furniture supplied by a host of Chilean brands.
Ice cream experts Gelupo will create an authentic Italian cafe, serving their signature gelato alongside prosecco and creamy sgroppinos. Just for designjunction, Gelupo is working on a special flavour which will be revealed at the show.
La Marzocco, the leading Italian espresso machine maker, will bring their renowned coffee machine to the café to make the finest artisan coffee.
A variety of refreshments including sodas and cocktails will be served from the SodaStream Soda Bar. SodaStream will launch the new Yves Behar designed Play at designjunction. Play is the first ever kitchen appliance that can be colour customised and will be unveiled in an interactive space at designjunction.
Real Street Food Festival
London’s favourite street food festival is pitching up on the ground floor. The Real Street Food Festival will bring a delicious selection of premium vans from their renowned Southbank Market including; the Community Kitchen serving Dorset lamb filled wraps and Horn OK Please who will deliver an authentic taste of India."
