Ruth Spivey is hosting her second Wine Car Boot (sale) in Southwark on Saturday 16th November. As the name implies its a car boot sale where wine shops and dealers sell direct to the public, plus have tastings, with food available too. The first one sold out very fast (& was very popular on the site). See the list of retailers below, and don't leave it too long to get your tickets!
"After 10 years travelling the world as a fashion model Ruth Spivey made the unusual move into the food and drink industry and on September 1st she launched Wine Car Boot; an edgy, one-of-a-kind event that was the love-child Ruth of her passion for great street food and exceptional independent wine. Tickets for the inaugural event in East London – sold out and the event was extremely well received by guests and media alike, and now Wine Car Boot is back for the second time, bigger and better!
With Christmas not far away it’s a great time to stock up for parties, pick up some presents and seek out some brilliant bottles for dinner. Next month, a new group of independent shops – some new and some from the first Wine Car Boot will be parking up in a fully covered car park, made up of a series of railway arches in SE1, in between Southwark and London Bridge tube stations. As before they’ll have their five favourite wines on offer, for everyone to try, buy, taste and drink throughout the afternoon. Tickets available here are only £10 this time – and include five free tasters, a wine bottle carrier (to fill up with bottles to take home) and a specialist Govino outdoor tasting glass. Once again attendees can top up with more tasting tokens, buy whole glasses and bottles to drink in and take home.
New shops confirmed for WCB2 are Last Drop, The Good Wine Shop, The Sampler, Vinoteca, D Vine Cellars and Market Row Wines. Back for Round 2 are top wine merchants Roberson, Bottle Apostle and Planet of the Grapes with more still to be announced. Alongside all the wines we’ll have plenty of food to keep everyone fuelled throughout the afternoon (more details coming soon).
Ruth's mission with Wine Car Boot is to bring together London’s best independent wines shops to educate and encourage visitors to “Taste their way out of the supermarket” in an accessible and unconventional setting. Wine Car Boot is a fantastic chance to meet local wine merchants, learn a bit and sample a lot - all in one place, with some great food and a bit of music."
