New (ish) Brixton bar Market House is bringing street food inside this summer wth a series of three residencies. June has Miss P's Barbecue, Juy has Colonel Tom's Cajan & Creole cooking, and 1st August sees Masterchef winner Tim Anderson's Nanban in residency for the whole of August for Southern Japanese Soul Food.
At Market House, located just behind the Ritzy Cinema on Coldharbour Lane, Tim will be serving up a few varieties of Kyushu-style ramen, plus karaage, yaki udon, as well as some Brixton - inspired dishes like ackee & saltfish korokke and yaki – curry meat patties. Things that you can sit down to eat and plenty to share that you can also eat standing up – small dishes are priced from £1.50 up to £10 for noodles and ramen.
Tim will also be offering his famous Whippy – San in some brand new flavours including White Peach, Matcha Melon, Banana Miso & Shichimi Chilli Chocolate. Order one flavour in a cone, or a twist of both!
On being at Market House for the month, Tim says “This is extremely exciting for me, as it will be the first chance I’ve had to start putting out Nanban food consistently, without the vagaries and stresses inherent in one-off pop-ups”.
Alongside the Market House team, Tim has also matched some Japanese inspired drinks to go with the menu, including his very own Pressure Drop Nanban Kanpai, a specially brewed wheat IPA with yuzu, orange & grapefruit juices. If you’re more of a cocktail drinker then the Chu-Hi - Shochu mixed with Ting or Old Jamaica Ginger Beer goes perfectly with any dish.
To celebrate the start of the residency, Tim will be offering 50% off food for the opening
weekend (1st August – dinner only, 2nd & 3rd August lunch & dinner. Please note that on Sunday 3rd tables must be booked in advance due to Brixton Splash)."
