The Transport for London Pop-up Restaurant at Design Junction nr Holborn

Design Junction 2014, a annual show of cutting edge design, takes place at The Sorting Office in New Oxford Street from Thurs 18th to Sun 21st September.  Among all the great designs to see and buy are four pop-up eateries - Foundry Bar and Lounge, the Alessi Pop Up Cafe, La Marzocco & Chilean Wine Bar, and Transport for London's pop-up Restaurant.  As you can see from the pic above it's done out in classic TfL fabrics, and will feature cocktails made from The East London Liquor Company's Gin.  Full list of eating options here

"To celebrate the “Year of the Bus” Transport for London (TfL) will be creating a pop up restaurant, designed by Michael Sodeau Studio in conjunction with the East London Liquor Company at key London Design Festival event designjunction (18-21 Sept). The pop up will feature an amazing selection of collaborations including a brand new London Gin and digital bus information boards which will feed social media messages.
For 2014 the design for the TfL restaurant “The General” takes its inspiration from the iconic London bus and London’s bus and public transport network. Michael Sodeau Studio has designed a custom-built bar, working closely with AJ Wells to create a 7 metre long tiled and enamelled steel structure. Creating the backdrop for the restaurant will be digital countdown information screens, usually seen on London bus stops, supplied by Trueform. The screens will feature messages from across designjunction’s social media feed during the event. The space will also feature large-scale photographic images of London bus archives supplied by London Transport Museum.
The East London Liquor Company will be serving specially created cocktails using their own gin, vodka and rum as well as a selection of locally brewed beer. Visitors will also be able to buy specially designed “Year of the Bus” bottles of the distillery's special edition London Dry Gin at the bar to take home for £19.50.
Other features of the overall restaurant design include seating by Modus, upholstered in Kirkby Design/TfL bus moquette inspired fabrics. There will be a feature installation of lighting from NUD collection and the new pendant light from Anglepoise, designed by Sir Kenneth Grange. The Modus PLC chair designed by Pearson Lloyd and upholstered in Kirkby Design “Southbank” upholstery fabric (in Ruby) will also be on show."
