From 3rd July Oink Swine Dining will be popping up at Crisis Cafe in Commercial Street E1 on Fridays and Saturdays for - you guessed it - a pork-based pop-up. There will be pulled port shoulder, ribs and more, with cider, craft beer and wines to drink, with all the pork coming from a farm within 50 miles of the capital. A set 3 course meal costs £25, with a welcome drink.
"The doors of porky pop-up Oink will be thrown open to curly-tail connoisseurs across London for the very first time on 3rd July 2015. The self-proclaimed home of Swine Dining, which will take a weekend residence on Shoreditch’s Commercial Street, aims to pay culinary homage to our pot-bellied friends.
Developed by Founder, James Purdie, Oink’s Swine Dining menu will curate flavours and inspiration from both home and abroad. The unique offering is designed to encourage a communal dining experience, featuring shareable starter plates and dig-in main dishes that explore the many facets of the resplendent pig.
From culinary creations of Pig’s Cheek & Black Pudding Nuggets and Crispy Shredded Pig’s Ear to curly-tailed classics of Pulled Pork Shoulder and Sweet & Sour glazed Chilli Ribs, Oink will deliver a truly unique pork experience, balanced by a thirst-quenching pairing menu of real ciders, craft beers and lovingly selected wines.
Purveyor of pork, James Purdie, believes that big flavours begin in the field, which is why all the pork served is lovingly reared from a friendly farm just 50 miles from the Oink kitchen.
Oink, and the concept of Swine Dining, was born out of longing for former Art Director James. During a prolonged stint living and working in Dubai, James regularly found himself with a serious yearning for pork – a scratch that is difficult to itch in that part of the world. On his return to the UK James vowed to never again go without the delicious wonders of swine and Oink was born."
