Riverford Organic, who make the vegboxes, are holding a supper club on Saturday 12th September at the Islington Ecology Centre nature reserve in Drayton Park, N5, just a short walk from Arsenal tube station and the Emirates stadium. The dinner will start with a sloe gin cocktail, and then lead on to a 3 course feast made from seasonal fruit and vegetables, with guests encouraged to BYOB.
"Riverford Organic (the organic vegbox farmers) are organising a pop up supperclub for one night on a little-known nature reserve in Islington.
The supper will be a three course feast of the best seasonal fruit & vegetables, and guests are invited to bring their own bottle as alcohol will not sold on the night, although everyone will receive a cocktail on arrival to enjoy before dinner.
Sample menu:
Carrot, orange & sloe gin cocktail
Shaved fennel with french beans and lemon zest
Roasted pumpkin with seeds and home-made curd
Whole roasted cauliflower with chilli, parsley and lemon
Slow roasted aubergine with shredded greens, miso & tahini dressing
Roasted carrot & beetroot with herbed yoghurt dressing
Mixed leaves
Blackberry clafoutis
Gillespie Park is one of three little-known nature reserves in Islington providing sanctuary for wildlife and plants. The Ecology Centre is nestled in Gillespie Park and is run on green energy including a wind turbine and eco kitchen."
