Fowl Mouths' Japanese Comfort Food Residency at The King & Co in Clapham

Great news - Fowl Mouths will be in residence in the kitchen of The King & Co in Clapham, serving up their Japanese comfort food every day from Monday 1st February to Sunday 6th March Monday 28th March 2016.  Dishes will include their  twice-fried Kara-age Chicken, and Vegetable Goyza, with some desserts and weekend brunch treats too!  Don't miss it!

"Following their sell-out success at supperclubs and popups across South London, Fowl Mouths are now bringing their delicious Japanese comfort food to The King & Co for their first extended residency. Running daily from Monday 1st February, the five-week kitchen takeover at the independent Clapham pub will showcase the popular popup chefs’ infamous signature delicacies alongside a feast of sensational new dishes.
Melissa Thompson started Fowl Mouths after being introduced to the “soulful” side of Japanese food by her sister-in-law. Having eaten her way around Japan and developed an irrepressible passion for the irresistible hearty side of Japanese cuisine (far removed from sushi and sashimi), Melissa launched a supperclub in her South East London home in February 2014. Assisted by her partner in the kitchen and best friend looking after guests in the dining room, Fowl Mouths' popularity rapidly soared. As word spread about their comforting food “made with love, eaten with joy”, the team’s fully-booked cosy monthly dinners at home were soon swapped for larger regular popups at prominent local community venues, to allow more people the chance to enjoy their food.
Fowl Mouths has built up a loyal fanbase thanks to their addictive signature delicacies like twice-fried Kara-age Chicken marinated in soy, mirin, garlic and ginger and delightful Vegetable Gyoza; and their innovative creations marrying unmistakable Japanese flavours with classic British and American comfort foods, ranging from Pumpkin Korokke Scotch Egg to Teriyaki Chilli Wings.
The daily menu for February’s residency at The King & Co will also feature Melissa’s much-loved Chocolate Sesame Balls with Homemade Matcha Ice Cream, and exciting new dishes including Pork Belly with Ginger and Sake. Weekends will also see Fowl Mouths debut an array of brand new brunch dishes promising a unique twist on traditional breakfast favourites, such as Pork Belly Benedict with poached eggs and yuzu hollandaise, and an Egg and “Bacon” Bun with Tonkatsu “brown” sauce.
Not only are Fowl Mouths committed to delivering delightful flavours in each dish - they are also focused on the provenance of their ingredients and responsible sourcing. Their meat is all rare-breed and free-range supplied by The Butcher's Block (an approved supplier for The Sustainable Restaurant Association) and they use British-grown wasabi from The Wasabi Company."
