CLAW, who serve great buns and more made from sustainable British seafood like crab and oysters, are taking over the kitchen at The Sun & 13 Cantons in Soho from late October 2016 to late February 2017. Serving lunch and dinner (days vary) expect dishes like their famous buns, plus Sourdough fried oysters with oyster cream, and 'KFC' – Kimchi fried soft-shell crab. It's going to be great!
"CLAW, the street-food vendors whose sustainable seafood dishes saw them named Virgin Foodpreneur 2015, have been announced as the latest restaurant residency at Soho pub The Sun & 13 Cantons. CLAW follow in the footsteps of laksa specialists Sambal Shiok and Asma Khan’s Darjeeling Express in taking over the kitchens, and will be in residence from October 22nd until the end of January 2017.
With their simple mission of serving ‘sociable sustainable seafood’, CLAW’s dishes focusing on Devon crab have been hugely popular at street-food market Kerb, on London’s Southbank and at festivals including Secret Garden Party and Green Man.
At The Sun & 13 Cantons, CLAW will serve an expanded menu featuring their signature ‘Claws’ – Cracked crab claws in a smoked pancetta broth – alongside new dishes developed especially for the residency including Sourdough fried oysters with oyster cream; KFC – Kimchi fried soft-shell crab; and IPA mac ‘n’ cheese with brown crab. Vegetarian options include BBQ Tenderstem, black garlic yoghurt & pickled walnuts and Kelp, egg yolk & cashew.
The menu is intended to offer flexibility with guests being able to order as few or as many dishes as their appetite dictates, from one or two quick plates to a long blow-out meal with friends. A bar menu will be served on Thursday and Friday evenings, complemented by The Sun & 13 Cantons’ full bar service and wine list which will be available at all times.
Started in response to their discovery that 80% of British crab was being exported, CLAW source fresh, traceable, sustainable crabs from Start Bay in Devon, dealing directly with the fishermen themselves to ensure that they receive the best produce.

It’s an amazing opportunity for us to run a bricks-and-mortar restaurant and will allow us to offer guests a much wider choice of dishes than before, showing what we mean by ‘sociable, sustainable seafood’.”
