In the subject line -

Los Antojitos at The King & Co in Clapham - A Mexican-inspired residency; the name means ‘little cravings’ -  Daily (also the pic)

Ling Ling’s at Swirl, E10 - Modern Chinese dishes for four days - two weeks of Fridays and Saturdays - 15th & 16th, 22nd & 23rd

Suzie Bakos at Jimmy’s Pop-up on the South Bank - A 6 course Middle Eastern-inspired feast using fresh British produce - Sun 17th 1pm-4pm

Recent Highlights

Lucy Sparrow - Not a food pop-up, but a food-inspired art exhibition.  Lucy has created her version of a classic British chippy in the Lyndsey Ingram Gallery in Mayfair.  I’ve loved Lucy’s work since I first saw her ‘corner shop’ exhibition - where she re-created a classic corner shop - and this time all of exhibits are for sale, including complete fish suppers, and smaller, pocket money items like portions of mushy peas - The attention to detail and the sense of humour is always there - Open Weds-Sun til 14th Sept .

Marie Mitchell - A return visit to Marie’s residency at Hometipple, the wine store and restaurant in Walthamstow.  Marie is a great cook, and her fish dishes in particular shine through.  The second time round I loved the Scottish mackerel with sorrel sauce, and the roast aubergine with chickpeas.  Hurry - this one ends at the end of August - serving Tues-Sun

LaLot - Chef Eric is one of the most busy and prolific of all the pop-up chefs; this was probably his 10th (or more) pop-up of the year, with two nights at TableAt464 in Kingsland Road, E8.  It was great to see him again, and very entertaining to see the front of house staff try his Vietnamese dishes for the first time.  Minds blown!  I had the prawn salad, and then the pork collar, fresh from the Konro grill.  This one is finished now, but you can find Eric’s next pop-ups through his Insta feed.

& it looked a bit like - https://www.instagram.com/p/DNIXH7GsLiy/ (poor lighting affected the shots, sadly)

& keep an eye on Table at 464 to see what they have coming up - https://www.instagram.com/tableat464/

As always, please check out my map of the pop-ups; they would all really appreciate your support, along with the rest of the hospitality sector.

Please let me know what I’m missing.

Definition of ‘Pop-up’ - Essentially something temporary (‘go now or miss it’, or an external chef taking over the kitchen of another venue (which is the majority of these, and a growing trend).

The listings this week are broadly arranged by date - ones you can visit today at the beginning, things you need to wait til Saturday for are lower down.

The list has been collated from the past week or so by endlessly scanning Twitter & Insta, reading newsletters, stalking chefs (not literally), enjoying the colder weather, and also reading things that PRs and (more often) chefs & their friends send me.  Please keep sending me your tips and invites - DM-ing on Instagram works best (@londonpopups) or mention me on Twitter (also @londonpopups) - I don't always notice posts on the feed (but I'm pretty good...)
