A slightly less busy week than the last - I think everyone is bank holiday-ed out, or Carnival-ed out of something - but lots of good stuff out there, and according to my clicking around on Wednesday lunchtime you can still get tickets for the Meatopia BBQ festival (Thurs-Sat)
Recent Highlights -
Kaunter at Giacco’s, N5 - Chef Jemma Harrison’s tribute to Eastern European and New York deli food has now landed at Giacco’s in Highbury. What this means in practice is lots of very yummy, imaginative comforting dishes; I loved the cured sardines, and the chicken schnitzel ‘kiev’ - oh and the cherry sorbet. In fact I loved all of it, and I think you will too. The menu will change regularly over the 4 month run; lots of reasons to go again! - Serving Tues-Fri evenings, and all day Saturday.

Los Antojitos at The King & Co, SW4 - & then a Saturday lunchtime trip to one of my locals, for their new pop-up, a Mexican-inspired menu from chef Nathan, aka Exploding Shirts. Nathan was a chef in London, then fancied a change, went to Mexico and has been cooking there for ten years. Now back for a spell, he is bringing his smarts - and menus - to the pub, including tacos, quesadillas, ceviche, and lots more, with a plan to do special Taco Tuesdays and something for Mexican Independence Day. Very tasty - I wolfed through 4 dishes - and I’m glad I live near enough to go back again soon. - Serving Mon-Sat
