Bastille Day is 14th July, and for the 5th year running various businesses around Bankside and Borough Market are holding a festival, sponsored by Président® Cheese, who will be holding cheese master classes.

"The French spirit takes Bankside by storm with a feast of cultural and gastronomic indulgences ending in a finale fête to remember!
Every 14th of July the streets of France come alive in celebration of the ‘storming’ of the Bastille and the birth of La République 1789.
For the 5th year the French spirit takes Bankside by storm on France’s National Day, London’s largest free Bastille Day celebrations.
Bastille Day sees an extravaganza of all things French in and around the Borough Market area. With a traditional 14th July Waiters’ Race, French Fair, Boules, Table Football and Cycling activities, creative workshops and culinary demonstrations, ‘street’ entertainment and much more, ending in a traditional open-air party in Borough Market and environs with live music, street entertainment, theatrical spectacles, eating, drinking, dancing and singing.
Southwark Playhouse’s Young Company will also be performing Brigade de Cuisine – A Recipe for Revolution, at the French Fair and in the evening at the party.
Party-goers are encouraged to dress in the spirit of the event, the best attired will win a deluxe meal for two at La Cave Restaurant."

Fun for all from morning till night with a Food Market, French Fair, entertainers, guinguettes and finale Bal
For early birds; French artisan food stalls in cosmopolitan Borough Market
11.00: The Waiters Race opens the Park St Fair- Creative and sporting family fun. French Market. Hat show. Gastronomic cinema.
Afternoon: Perfume Talks at the Roxy Bar. Président® cheese master-classes & Les Français de Londres at the Fair. French Kitchen in Borough Market. Cycle repairs on the Cathedral plaza. Street theatre in the locale.
All day: Promenading entertainers. French culinary classics & international cuisine at Restaurants & Cafés. Discounted entry to local attractions.
Evening: As the Fair closes the party around Borough market begins: Food and drink bars & stalls. Activities. Theatrical performances. Live music & DJ."
