Pop-up Design & Craft Department Store in Spitalfields


For two days Hanbury Hall, off Brick Lane in Spitalfields will be transformed into a department store, playing host to lots of independent designers and crafters.  Sounds great!

"On the 17th and 18th of November, Hanbury Hall in Spitalfields will play host to London’s first Pop-Up Department Store, in a joint venture between cultural Olympiad project somewhereto_ and Global Entrepreneurship Week. It will be a creative space for budding artists to exhibit, showcase and sell their crafts.
somewhereto_ unlocks space for young people to do the things they love in arts, culture and sport and activities in London are managed and coordinated by local organisation A Very Good Company.
20 promising designers, creatives and artists will be carefully selected from networks across the UK to collaborate to produce a weekend where they can showcase their work in an area famous for its quirky markets.
Passers by will be able to revel at the transformed Hanbury Hall, as it morphs into a compact shopping experience boasting jewellery, clothing, nail art, handmade yarns and more. Hatty Bell, somewhereto_ regional coordinator for London says: “Londoners should prepare to enter a space that teases their purses but at the same time celebrates the latest in ornate crafts and innovative design by some of the most exciting young talent in the capital.”
In preparation for the event, successful candidates will be invited to a day of professional skills workshops facilitated by somewhereto_LDN to ensure that they will be equipped with keys skills to maximise the opportunity and generate worth-while leads.
somewhereto_ has been funded by Legacy Trust UK, creating a lasting impact from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the UK."
