July Pop-up Vintage Fair in Hampstead

This Sunday, 8th July, the Pop-up Vintage Fair will be appearing in Hampstead for the last time before their summer break.

"Last chance before the summer break to pick up some Summer Vintage Bargains at the Pop Up Vintage Fair at St Stephen’s Rosslyn Hill, Pond Street, Hampstead NW3 2PP on Sunday 8th July.   Just up the road from Belsize Park Tube Station (Northern Line). 
Lots of lovely Summer vintage stock to choose from including festival maxi dresses, tea dresses & denim shorts.  As well as designer & affordable vintage fashion there’ll be vintage accessories, vintage spectacles & sunglasses, jewellery, homeware, handpainted furniture, antiques, collectables & more. 
Pop by the Pincurls and Pout stand where professional makeup & hair stylists Jeanie & Betsy can recreate that perfect vintage hair & makeup from any decade – 30s/40s bombshell, 50s rockabilly, 60s chick or 70s hippy, whichever decade is your favourite! 
Back by popular demand the harmonising trio The Wayward Sisters will be performing some good old-fashioned toe-tapping tunes to entertain us! 
After all that shopping and preening, sit back and enjoy tea with homemade cake, or afternoon cream teas in our Pop Up Vintage Tea Room.  If the sun is shining the courtyard will be open for tea in the sunshine!"

Dezeen's Summer Pop-up Shop in Seven Dials

Design experts Dezeen last popped up at Seven Dials in December, and before that last summer for an exclusive watch shop; now they're back for a 3 month stint, with lots of special guests and surprises.

"Following the success of their Christmas pop-up design store 'The Temporium', this summer Dezeen returns to present an innovative retail and gallery concept at 38 Monmouth Street in Seven Dials.
From 30th June to 30th September, the Dezeen Super Store will be a micro-department store hosting exclusive product launches and bringing together a number of retail concepts developed by Dezeen.
Open during London Design Festival the super store will showcase unique hand-picked designer products from Dezeen’s pop-up design store concept The Temporium, alongside latest collection of stylish designer watches, including brands such as Issey Miyake, Normal Timepieces, Uniform Wares and IDEA at the Dezeen Watch Store. In addition, to celebrate the Olympic Games Dezeen will offer a unique range of products from established and upcoming designers in the east London borough of Hackney as part of their ‘Designed in Hackney’ initiative; choose from stickers and prints to watches and designer lighting, all designed and produced in Hackney.
As well as these three micro-stores, Dezeen Super Store will host an exhibition space that changes each week to showcase work by a range of talented creatives. The space will also present aerial artworks created by seven leading designers as part of the 'Seven Designers for Seven Dials' project, commissioned by Dezeen."

Jimmy's Supper Club at Annex East in Stratford

Supper Club host, and pop-up restaurant veteran Jimmy Garcia has announced his new venture, to take place over a month during the Olympics.  Its a large pop-up restaurant located very close to the Olympic Village, and it'll be the venue for food, cocktails, entertainment and art.

"With nightly delectable 5 course feasts intertwined with nights such as Dodgeball And Dinner, Sunday Brunch Club Sports Day, special screenings of Blades Of Glory, Cool Runnings, Chariots Of Fire, and wine tasting and pairing nights, Jimmy’s has something on offer for every hungry East London Olympian.
The stunning new warehouse space will also feature a custom designed cocktail bar and seating area on the mezzanine level of the warehouse from New York and Copenhagen based designer, Nikolaj Lorentz Mentze, alongside a fine art exhibition which will be located on the ground floor of the warehouse, comprising of invited young London based galleries that will select and exhibit one work from one artist.  The exhibition will also showcase the works of Neil Rumming, James Balmforth, Julian King, Limoncello, Cole, tsp alongside especially invited galleries and exhibitors.
In the afternoon light lunches and snacks based around Olympics will also be available with the likes of 'Linford's Lunch' - A lunch box with a sandwich, drink, piece of fruit, and pack of crisps. or a Beijing Box- containing noodle and King Prawn Salad with a ginger and lime dressing. A fully licensed bar will also be open all day.
Jimmy’s presents the prefect opportunity to get involved in your own Olympics whilst eating, drinking and being entertained by the best in the business. What could be better!"

The Bankside Bastille Day Festival 2012

Bastille Day is 14th July, and for the 5th year running various businesses around Bankside and Borough Market are holding a festival, sponsored by Président® Cheese, who will be holding cheese master classes.

"The French spirit takes Bankside by storm with a feast of cultural and gastronomic indulgences ending in a finale fête to remember!
Every 14th of July the streets of France come alive in celebration of the ‘storming’ of the Bastille and the birth of La République 1789.
For the 5th year the French spirit takes Bankside by storm on France’s National Day, London’s largest free Bastille Day celebrations.
Bastille Day sees an extravaganza of all things French in and around the Borough Market area. With a traditional 14th July Waiters’ Race, French Fair, Boules, Table Football and Cycling activities, creative workshops and culinary demonstrations, ‘street’ entertainment and much more, ending in a traditional open-air party in Borough Market and environs with live music, street entertainment, theatrical spectacles, eating, drinking, dancing and singing.
Southwark Playhouse’s Young Company will also be performing Brigade de Cuisine – A Recipe for Revolution, at the French Fair and in the evening at the party.
Party-goers are encouraged to dress in the spirit of the event, the best attired will win a deluxe meal for two at La Cave Restaurant."

Karen Morrison's Pop-up Jewellery Boutique in Clerkenwell Green

Jewellery designer Karen Morrison is opening a pop-up show for six days in August.  Have a look at her site to get an idea of what to expect

'At Home With Walbrook & Avon' Pop-up Restaurant in Hackney

Walbrook and Avon, a pop-up restaurant run by Polly Clifton and Paul Allen, appeared quite a lot in Broadway Market last year, but then had a slight break.  Now they're back, with a one-night pop-up in Hackney.


"After a five month hiatus, we're back, with something a little different.
Since we last popped up we have moved into a wonderful four storey Georgian townhouse in the heart of Hackney, which we think will make a perfect setting for a more intimate evening of lovely food and wine.
So on Saturday 28th July at 7pm we launch At Home With Walbrook & Avon where we will be serving five courses each with an accompanying cocktail or glass of wine. Priced at £35 per person for five courses and five drinks, as usual we will be operating a first come, first served system."
