Beer Rebellion is a pop-up bar in Gypsy Hill from Late Knights Brewery. There are lots of beers from Late Knights, plus lots of guest beers, cider, whisky and more. It's initially open for 3 months (from May, I think) - please support them! & thanks to The London Junction for the tip!
"A rebellion does seem a little bit drastic I know, but as much as we want to stand for great beer, it also sounds quite nice! Our first pop-up bar is now open in Gipsy Hill SE19, directly opposite the Gipsy Hill train station. We have taken a 3 month deal to get this place open and see how things go, and one week in the signs are good. We keep it simple at our first bar, we serve whisky, beer, wine and cider and we try to keep everything from small producers who we like! I think you will have guess from my previous posts that our main goal is to work with great people and this starts with suppliers. We have local beer from Peter down the road at 'A head in a hat' brewery, Lera and Matthew at Shamblemoose, Duncan at Clarence and Fredrick's to name but a few. We have 8 rotating cask beers, 3 ciders, 1 crafty little cider and a growing range of American and British bottles (40 at present)"
BBQ experts (& winners of yesterday's #RibStock) BBQWhiskyBeer have popped up at The Wargrave Arms off Edgeware Road to serve ribs, burgers, pulled pork and more. No tickets - just turn up hungry!
"After a successful first pop up, BBQWhiskyBeer has returned for a second stint to offer London a collection of dirty burgers, smoking whisky and filthy blues. Taking over The Wargrave Arms, a beautiful old pub off the Edgeware Road. The menu features favourites such as the Classic (A 7oz beef patty with bacon and cheese in a brioche bun, BBQ Pork (Classic patty topped with 24hr smoked pulled pork topped with coleslaw), Southern Fried Chicken Livers, Pork Ribs and not forgetting the Cornflake Sundae (Made from cornflakes steeped in milk, topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce). The menu also has a few new faces including the Oxtail Chill (Classic patty, oxtail chilli, dirty water dog and nachos). And look out for special guest appearances such as latest love child, ladder beef rib The Jacob - this three day smoked beast is finished on a charcoal grill with chimichurri sauce. And to drink? Choose from one of the biggest selections of single malts in London. They carry a bottle from every distillery still producing whisky in Scotland (and a number of closed distilleries). Beers include quality casks from London breweries, craft bottles and for those in the know, they always have something special under the counter. BBQWhiskyBeer does everything it says on the tin, if you missed it the first time round think of this as Lady Luck giving you a second chance."

Street food experts KERB have unveiled another regular event - Saturdays at Granary Square, outside Central St Martins college, and just North of King's Cross station. So far just three are planned - 29th June, 3rd August & 7th September, but if this works (& we hope it will) there are plans to roll out to other parts of the city. Please support this!
"Granary Square is an interesting space - over-looked by the imposing Central St Martins, fringed by two brilliant and unusual restaurants, carpetted with beds of fountains, hemmed by a canal and peppered with a copse of trees - and now we are turning it into a space for a new kind of Saturday market for the city. If we can make it here then we're in a great position to take the idea to other parts of London. The 29th June is the first of this 3-part KERB Saturdays pilot - part 2 is in August, part 3 in September. Come and help us make it happen - and as ever, come hungry! Examples of Food: Oyster Po'boys, beef ribs, technicolour tacos, meatball sliders, schnitzel sandwiches, shebeen favourites, Heartbreaker burgers, gyoza, homemade iced lollies, ice cream sandwiches...and more Examples of Drinks: homemade ginger beer, rhubarb soda, yellow tomato Bloody Marys, casks of beer, Caravan coffee, proper tea Added extras: Food-Cycle reclaimed snacks, the Calthorpe Project homemade chutneys + shrubs, newspapers, deck chairs"

The Brixton Botanical is a new cocktail bar in Brixton Village from Cornercopia, occupying what is normally their winter dining room. It's open from Tues - Sat from 6pm. Excellent - Brixton Village needed a cocktail bar!
"Brixton Village is about to get an exciting new cocktail bar – it will pop-up from 24th May looking like a potting shed in what is normally Cornercopia’s indoor winter dining room. It will stay for the Summer months and bringing you a changing menu of experimental & seasonal cocktails. Nicholas Hortan who will be running the bar for us has devised a list of 10 fantastic cocktails using the very best of English spirits, fruit cordials, fresh seasonal fruit (sometimes vegetables) herbs and edible flowers from our garden or other local growers. There are some fantastic English spirits now like Shipwreck Cider Brandy, Boxer gin, Chase Vodka (voted best in the world beating the Russians!) and ‘better than Champagne’ sparkling English wines which Nick will use to make some truly special cocktails. The menu of 10 drinks will keep changing as Nick experiments with homemade syrups and botanical bitters, different flavours and fruits throughout the summer. There is talk of us making our own Summer cup (think Pimms) and perhaps even a gin and tonic with Brixton grown botanicals. To start with there will be a Rhubarb sour, nettle gimlet, English Sangria (English white wine & elderflower) and a Brixton Village Mule using the only English made rum (Old Salt), Federation Coffee bitters and Ossie’s ginger beer. There will always be at least one cocktail for £5 with the rest ranging from £6-£9. Should you feel inspired to get more experimental with your drink making at home we stock most of the ingredients in our shop and will be will be sharing DIY recipes."
When - Tues - Sat from 24th May, 6pm - 11pm
Where - Next to Cornercopia, 65 Brixton Village Market, Coldharbour lane, SW9 8PS

Sho Foo Doh have announced a residency at Pacific Social Club in Hackney, to run in the evenings from Thurs - Saturday. I've eaten Fumio's food on lots of occasions - think really tasty Japanese pancakes & more - and I can't wait for this one.
"Hackney drop out centre Pacific Social Club finally seems close to realising their initial ambition later this month by cementing their habitual pop-uppers Sho Foo Doh to a permanent residency. Since first collaborating in June 2012, the monthly pairing of Fumio Tanga's Sho Foo Doh on food and the Pacific Socialists on booze has been a bit of a hit, with constant full houses, full stomachs and positive vibrations. Now, from Friday 17th May, the culinary darklands of Lower Clapton will finally have a regular rival to the mass of pub pizza and kebabish kebabs when Fumio and his massive hot plate plant themselves at the Pacific every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 17th May (apart from 1st Fridays of the month when wonderful cousin, Bao London will take over and other one-off events). We are open from 6pm and 10pm last order. Bring your own booze with no corkage fee to start with. Fumio began “Sho Foo Doh” at Chatsworth Road Market in May 2011 selling humble Osaka/Kansai style Okonomiyaki, Japanese savoury pancakes, after taking its name from his grandfather’s sweet shop in Hiroshima that closed nearly 30 years ago, inheriting just his uniforms and a lantern. It soon found fans amongst locals, bloggers and foodies such as Metro, Marina O’loughlin, Debate Your Plate, Jen Eats The Streets. Now the location has changed, the food has changed but the concept remains the same, keeping it simple yet playful, honest and delicious. Fumio will be serving up okonomiyaki in all regional styles (but of course specialising in Hiroshima style! ) and weekly changing sharing dishes such as gochujang marinated tuna with rawegg yolk, fried aubergines soaked in bonito dashi, popular sweet sesame vinegar cucumber pickles and many more that take in influences from Japan’s izakaya (kind of tapas bar with endless menus of plates to share) and Japanese home cooking."
When - Thursday - Saturday, 6pm - 10pm from 17th May
Where - Pacific Social Club, 8 Clarence Road, E5 8HB

Come and try all parts of our Wiggies, nothing goes to waste here!"
