Dazed & Refused Banquet in Cambridge Heath

The Arch Gallery in Cambridge Heath are holding what they describe as a luxurious evening of food, music and portrait art in the gallery space.  It's a 4 course feast - see above for the menu - and it costs £25.

"The evening will include a three-course banquet, designed by chef Allan Chandler.
Our contemporary English summer menu will be comprised of locally sourced organic produce of the highest quality.
The Banquet will be held in conjunction with our current exhibition Dazed and Refused. The exhibition features over 100 paintings submitted and refused entry from the BP National Portrait exhibition 2012.
The ambience of the evening will be accentuated by decadent furnishings by Maria & Maria interior design.
With musical accompaniment by string jazz band The Theo Ziarkas Trio.
The trio will be performing original compositions as well as arrangements of well known jazz standards by Wayne Shorter, Kenny Wheeler, John Coltrane, and Thelonius Monk."

Pop-up Art Show in Crouch End: Flowers, Vases & Great Tits!

A provocative title for Sarah Horsfall's new exhibition, this weekend in Crouch End!  Take a trip to Crouch End to see and buy.

"Sarah Horsfall, a local artist has her first solo exhibition in the UK entitled “Flowers, Vases and Great Tits!” at a Pop-Up gallery in Crouch End.  The human form will be exhibited as portraits and nudes juxtaposed with still life, bird and abstract paintings.
The exhibition includes a featured wall comprising a hundred paintings  priced at £100 each, ensuring that original art is accessible to all. 
Sarah Horsfall was born in the UK but moved to Canada after studying at university.  She exhibited extensively in the United States and Canada, where her iconic portraits have graced the front covers of numerous publications and have been featured on T.V.  Several of her images were chosen by Canadian Art Prints to be published as open edition prints.  She is a member of the Canadian Federation of Artists."

Philips Bodygroom Pop-up Barbershop in Covent Garden

For one day only, Philips are opening a pop-up barbershop, to offer men free chest shaves.  It's free chest shaves all day, by their 'Bodygroom Barber Babes' and one lucky competition winner will get shaved by Kelly Brook.

"Do you want to support England in style by getting your chest shaved by Kelly Brook? One lucky guy will be invited to the Philips BodyGroom Barbershop this Friday (15th June) in Covent Garden to meet Kelly and get groomed in time for the England vs Sweden game."

The Tavolone Supper Club's Truffle Night in Shoreditch

Tavolone is a new supper club (est. 2011) that organises a monthly meal in the offices of the ad agency Mother.  It's for up to 50 people, around one big, long table, and it sounds like a very fun night!

"At Tavolone (italian for ‘big table’) we make lovely, homemade food and eat together around a long table. Imagine a big Italian family dinner – fresh food, wine and lovely conversation.
For one night each month we transform a venue into a Trattoria and invite our friends and their friends. Each night is different and our promise is you will have a good time.
Tavolone is the creation of Hannah, Giorgio and Christian, who have travelled, enjoyed and studied the worlds of food from Italy, Brazil, Austria, New Zealand, Germany to Bangladesh. We mostly cook ourselves, with the occasional guest chef from our foodie friends, who have cooked at restaurants like Moros, St Johns, Meraz Cafe, or the River Cafe.

By the time our next Tavolone rolls around it will be summer truffle season and we love truffles.  We have our favorite supplier in Umbria and they promise a kilogram of delicious, fragrant truffles all for us- and for you if you care to join us.

Following hours of intense discussion around the kitchen table we finally decided on the menu and it goes something like this:

Glittering Greenwich Pop-up Jewellery Shop

A while ago I helped promote the Glittering Greenwich competition to find occupants for a jewellery pop-up shop.  It's now opened - here are the details.

"London’s most sparkly Pop Up Shop has opened its doors  in Greenwich.   Talented jewellers Jessica de Lotz,  Myia Bonner, The Jewellery Guild and P.O.W are the winning team behind this fresh new jewellery venture – their prize as winners of a retail design competition sponsored by Jewellery Week 2012 and estate owner Greenwich Hospital. They had just two days to prepare for a busy Jubilee week end launch and have all risen to the challenge of experiencing retail first hand for the whole of June.
All four jewellers were chosen by the judges for their creative  design talents and how they would realise their retail merchandising suggestions. Working as a team, they have created a must visit shop  which cleverly displays their very different design styles and all are really enjoying the experience.
Jessica de Lotz comments "In the short period of time that we have been open, I have totally fallen for Greenwich. It has a wonderful community feel, with lots of support from the surrounding independent businesses. This is a very exciting time to be have our precious Glittering Greenwich Pop Up during one of the most exciting periods in the jewellery calendar... Jewellery Week 2012!"

Greenwich hosts London's biggest jewellery market with up to 100 stalls – from vintage to contemporary, featuring work by some of London's most talented designer makers. Shop to the accompaniment of live music and sip on a cocktail or two."

The Last Days of Pisco Pop-up Bar & Restaurant in Dalston

Coming soon in Dalston, for four Friday and Saturday nights.  This place sounds great.

"Most of us hadn't even heard of ceviche this time last year. The Peruvian dish of raw fish in a glug of lime with sea salt and a hint of chilli was probably something only known about by the more intrepid type of gap-year kid and a handful of serious foodies. Nowadays it's fetching up all over the show.
Ceviche in Soho kicked things off, but for those with less capacious pockets a new pop-up opens in east London next weekend and runs every weekend until 6 July at 5 Balls Pond Road. Raw fish not your thing? Head down for a pisco sour or three instead."
