Grub's Two Christmas Feasts at The Bread and Roses in Clapham

Grub (not to be confused with Grub London, or Grub Club) are hosting two Christmas feasts at The Bread and Roses pub in Clapham on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th December.  It promises to be quite a theatrical experience - and they suggest that guests should wear Christmas jumpers and wooly hats.

"Ladies and Gents,
Grub presents....
"A Christmas Feast" from The Devil's Larder.
A theatrical feast including a six course banquet created by Grub's very own chef, Mr James Knox Boothman (head chef at the Coal Vaults, Soho), curated by Grub co-founder and Creative Director Melanie May (The London Leisure Pirates, Lost & Found), and performance from Theatre Director Jack Stigner (FoulPlay Productions, Colossal Crumbs, Twisted Hip).
Grub, 2013's traditional British pop-up restaurant, became a local favourite for the East End, serving classic national dishes with a touch of finesse in a charming environment; upstairs at the Bethnal Green Working Men's Club.
"A Christmas Feast" follows the success of Grub's first theatrical feast from The Devil's Larder, a seven course banquet commemorating Queen Victoria's coronation anniversary including: Sooty urchins, shoveled muscles, People Pie, Pears soap dessert complete with saucy advertisement, and many more moments of macabre culinary drama. Grub teams up with Starving Arts, to make "A Christmas feast" bigger, better, and even more spectacular, but don't be fooled by the little devils, I mean elves... Christmas is cooking and we promise to sell-out to stuff your stockings.
Grub in The Devils Larder's "A Christmas Feast" is showing on the 9th and 10th of December, at The Bread and Roses, Clapham.
Dress code: Christmas Jumpers and Woolly hats"

The Ooh Fondue Three Day Pop-up Restaurant near London Fields

For three days from Thursday 5th December a fondue restaurant is opening near London Fields, with cheese from Neal's Yard, bread from the E5 Bakehouse, charcuterie from Borough Market, and wine from Borough Wines.  They're taking over the Number One Cafe in Well St, for all three nights, and it's sure to be very popular.

"Fondue with an epicurean twist is the order of the day at Ooh-Fondue, a new fondue pop up restaurant opening in Hackney this week.
Ooh-Fondue, run by Moro chef Charlie Nicoll, is launching in Hackney for a limited run on 28th November.
Ooh-Fondue is much more than an ironic nod to alpine holidays - it promises to be an authentic foodie experience.
The pop up supports small local independent traders, sourcing its cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy, bread from E5 Bakehouse, charcuterie from Borough Market and wine from Borough Wines.
The restaurant’s founders are three friends and Hackney locals –Nicoll, who chefs at both Moro and sister restaurant Morito, Josie Martin, the front of house manager at Morito, and Michelle Booth, an advertising executive.
The business is the brainchild of Josie Martin, who after enjoying some particularly delicious fondue on a night out, decided it was time the retro dish had a comeback, and persuaded her friends to join her in launching a pop-up dedicated to melted cheese."

When - Thurs 5th - Sat 7th December, 8pm - 11.30pm

Where - Number One Cafe, 36-28 Well Street, E9 7PX

James Ramsden's Secret Larder Supper Club near Highbury & Islington

James Ramsden runs a very exclusive supper club from his home.  Whenever I've looked at his site it's been booked up for months in advance, but now you can taste his food at a series of special Tuesday night events at a cafe near his home in December.  Tickets are just £37 (£22 deposit payable in advance) and for that you get four courses, and BYOB with no corkage.  Do it!

"Arguably, James Ramsden's Secret Larder supper-club is London's most exclusive ticket in town. In order to secure a seat at one of his hearty seasonal 4-course dinners, potential guests are asked to perform a series of life-defying challenges, do a little jig and stand on one leg whilst rubbing their tummies and patting their heads (aka apply for a ballot system). LUCKILY however, he's just decided to grant Grub Club 10 tickets per event for diners to book challenge-free!
The Secret Larder is about good food and good company. Based on the Holloway Road and hosted by the author of 'Small Adventures in Cooking,' Guardian food writer & Radio 1 broadcaster, James Ramsden. Every Tuesday night James and co. serve a hearty seasonal 4-course dinner for 20 guests who get to bring along bottle of their favourite (with no corkage). Simple as that.
Expect to eat a sumptuous 4-course dinner, plus a welcome drink, superb coffee made by Vagabond, and homemade chocolate truffles."

When - Tuesdays - 3rd, 10th & 17th December, 7.30pm - 10.30pm

Where - Vagabond, 105 Holloway Road, N7 8LT

Tickets - £22 deposit from Grub Club here & then a further £15 on the night
