Saigon StrEat's Saturday Night Pop-up in Hither Green

Saigon StrEat are popping up every Saturday night at The Cafe of Good Hope in Hither Green.  No booking - just turn up!  Note - they're also at the Plumtree Cafe in Greenwich on Fridays - full info on Facebook here

"When I was little, I was always helping my mum in the kitchen from bashing crab shells to pounding lemongrass…basically the ‘dirty work’. What this means, however, is that despite the South East London accent, I definitely know how to serve up some true authentic Vietnamese comfort food!
Inspired by the sidewalk dining and street food of Saigon, we will be recreating this eating experience here in London; complete with flavourful market fresh ingredients and a rotating menu of authentic Vietnamese street food.
We believe serving healthy and great tasting food goes hand in hand with supporting British local business and having love and respect for our planet."

The Pig Club's 'Everything About The Kid' Dinner near London Fields

The Pig Club are back with a one night special dinner, exploring (& eating) the humble goat, with chefs Fabiana Reis and Sean Hegarty.  The dinner takes place near London Fields on Thurs 17th October, and there's even a ukulele performance after the meal.

"The Pig Club chefs are happy to present its next pop up restaurant “EVERYTHING ABOUT THE KID”. Fabiana Reis and Sean Hegarty will be serving a creative wild menu exploring the versatility of the goat’s world including what it munches on, its bi-products and the goat itself.
We’re also delighted to bring ingredients like marsh herbs, leafy green vegetable, and the super food berry sea buckthorn to our diners’ plate. They are part of the goat’s diet and slowly becoming more and more popular in the UK’s restaurants. Expect great textures and surprising tastes.
Our Kid comes straight from the farm Cabrito, located in Somerset where visionaries chef and farmer combined their experience to bring British goat to the country’s menu. The Pig Club totally supports the idea.
Fabiana is a chef de partie at the Islington ethical pub Duke of Cambridge and founder of the Pig Club. Sean has over 25 year of cooking experience having had worked as a personal chef for Samuel Jackson as well as being the owner of a bistro in Kent. He has also worked as chef for the Duke of Cambridge and now develops cooking projects around London.

Baketopia's Two Day Cake Pop-up off Carnaby Street

Baking is so hot right now!  To warm us up for National Baking Week, the wonderful Miss Cakehead is curating two days of cake in Kingly Court, off Canaby Street on 11th & 12th October.  Register below to ensure that you can get in - there are 3,000 portions of cake but I'm sure they won't last for ever!

"To celebrate National Baking Week 14th – 20th October, the infamous Miss Cakehead is curatinga team of the UK’s finest food artists to create a 100% edible pop-up—in the form of a magical meadow—in London’s Kingly Court, just off Carnaby Street.
The pop-up, entitled ‘Baketopia’, will be open to the sweet-toothed public on Friday 11th and Saturday the 12th of October. The Wonka-esque landscape will feature over 3000 portions of baked goods for guests to devour over two days—everything is edible and everything must go.
The Tattooed Bakers, Nevie Pie Cakes, Caking It and Conjurer’s Kitchen are just some of the contributors to the project, which is also supported by John Whaite, National Baking Week’s ambassador and the winner of the 2012 Great British Bake Off.
John has created five exclusive recipes for National Baking Week, some of which will be baked into the pop-up for visitors to harvest for themselves and take away.
Inside Baketopia — which is being created with the help of National Baking Week’s supporters, Pyrex, Stork, JUS-ROL, Nielsen-Massey, JUST MILK, Billington’s and Kenwood – guests will also be able to dip frog-shaped cookies into a milk fountain; harvest meringue mushrooms; break honeycomb pieces from a bee hive; catch pastry butterflies and even pull hyper realistic looking carrot cakes from chocolate cookie earth.
The centrepiece of the tasty tableau will be a giant unicorn, created by the Tattooed Bakers, made from rainbow cake and complete with edible gold leaf embossed hooves and horn.
To show their appreciation, guests will be encouraged to make a £2 donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s      Charity, National Baking Week’s charity partner. All donations will go towards a ward kitchen for the hospital's brand new respiratory unit.
Miss Cakehead comments: “It’s a dream come true for our collective to get creative for National Baking Week. It felt only right for us to make a utopian landscape, good enough to eat, which would inspire others to bake.”
Alexandra Blyth, Marketing Manager at Pyrex, founder and lead supporter of National Baking Week says: “Baketopia is the ultimate celebration of baking.  This magical installation will kick-off a fantastic week of activities to excite experienced bakers and novices alike to rise up and join the baking revolution.”"

Gingerline's Secret Suppers in November & December 2013 in East London

Gingerline, one of London's most secretive and mysterious supper clubs, has announced a new series of dates for November 2013.  It's all based around The Ginger Line, aka The London Overground (East London section), so you only get the name of the station to meet at an hour before the event.  Tickets go on sale on Monday 30th September, and they're going to go like #HotCakes

"Gingerline, the pioneers of underground immersive dining, are offering the capital's most daring diners and fun-seekers the chance to be transported to a parallel-reality where cutting-edge food, art, performance and festivities collide. Taking place at a top-secret location on the East London Line, revealed to guests just 60 minutes before the event begins, the only thing Gingerline guests can expect is the unexpected.
For their last project, Gingerline HQ, 10,000 intrepid diners crossed the threshold during the last 8-month sell-out run, each buying a ticket without knowing a single detail about where or what the experience would entail and, once back in reality, no-one broke the Gingerline Code of total secrecy. Now Gingerline is taking immersive dining to the next level with its most exciting and ambitious event to date – The Hideout – and it is inviting your readers to join them on this new riotous odyssey.
Founded by three years ago by Suz Mountfort & Kerry Adamson (two adventure-loving food fanatics) as an experimental pop-up art and food project, Gingerline has cavorted and cartwheeled through nine different ventures. Gingerline set the trend in motion, and continues to be the Gold Standard – or should that be Ginger Standard – for London's alternative dining scene. Its high-quality creative concoctions have drawn comparisons with Punch Drunk and You Me Bum Bum Train, but with delicious four-course feasting, a welcome drink, menu keepsake and an extraordinary night of revels and revelations to boot.
Tickets will go on sale via their website www.gingerline.co.uk at 9am on September 30th for The Hideout adventure commencing in November 2013. Tickets will cost £50 for Wednesdays and Thursdays, and £55 for Friday and Saturday evenings.  Please note that previous events have sold out at lightening speed, so your readers are advised to book early to avoid missing out. The event will run throughout November and December 2013. A small number of advanced bookings are available for groups of 20+. Further details are available by contacting bookings@gingerline.co.uk
Take a jaunt on the Gingerline: Gingerline is powered by innovation and runs on the rails of secrecy: on the night guests receive a text message inviting them to one of the stations along the East London Line (increasingly known as the Gingerline), 60 minutes before the event begins. This prosaic text is your gentle introduction to the extraordinary journey ahead. From the station guests are guided to an unusual, top-secret location. Gingerline's revels always include a welcome drink and four-course fine dining banquet – but all else will remain beyond the realms of prediction. "

When - Wednesdays - Saturdays in November & December 2013

Where - It's a secret - until an hour before

Tickets - £50 for Weds & Thurs, and £55 for Fri & Sat from here from 9am on 30th September

TampersandT Presents EuroTrashed near Queens Park

TampersandT (T&T) is a new events company who have a special pop-up restaurant with live acts and music happening on 4th & 5th October, based around the concept of 'EuroTrashed'

"Flashback to the early 90’s. Yeah there were people with green hair and ripped jeans feeling sorry for themselves. Yeah Will Smith used to be funny. And Yeah you can jump higher if you inflate the tongue of your trainers. This was the backdrop to what TampersandT the force behind EuroTrashed grew up on.
But that show in particular had a big place in their hearts. Might have been because they both meet in a French school in their early teens and the show reflected their half French half British culture. Might have been for the witty socio political satire that dotted the program or the international beauties.
Whatever it was, T (Rohan Tully) film Director and T (Tarek Sebastian Al-shammaa) Head Chef at Pinewood studios didn’t count on the sheer laughs they had recounting the show and its hilarious moments.  They both love French cuisine but have had enough of the pompous frivolities of their dining rooms. They wanted to imagine Le Gavroche but run by Antoine, Jean Paul and Lola.
Welcome to EuroTrashed.
We are now looking for an audience to join our live broadcast of the new show “Eurotrashed” so please book your seat prepare your taste buds
THE MENU:
The menu will be an exploit of French cuisine as well as other cooking techniques. This particular menu will be mainly fish and being an island we have some of the best produce in the world. We promise that all our scallops will be hand dived, all our prawns ethically sourced and our langoustines and Salmon to be Scottish and proud. The pride of the menu is a dish famous in the south of France but rare to find here in Britain. The starter will be light and refreshing and yes it’s a EuroTrashed night so will finish with a Tart. And we do love a Tart here at TampersandT.
Upon arrival, you will receive complementary cocktails followed by a 3 course meal.
Scottish Wild Salmon Ceviche with a Citrus Dressing and a Herb Salad
Hand dived Scallops, Scottish Langoustines, Monkfish, Tilapia, and Calamari Bouillabaisse with Saffron rice
White Organic Chocolate and Cardamom Tart with British raspberries"

When - Friday 4th & Saturday 5th October

Where - 26 Macroom Road W9 3HY

Tickets - £66 from here (Fri) & here (Sat)

A Grape Night In's Winter Sunday Roast Pop-up near London Fields

A Grape Night In have announced their next venture - an indulgent Sunday Roast lunch Pop-up near London Fields, with bubbles, paired wines, and even a quiz in the evening.  Most of their Wine Wednesdays sold out, and I've not doubt that this will be just as popular.

"As the summer months fade away, a hearty roast can be a saviour from the chilly weather. Pair this with many warming glasses of wine selected by the experts at pop-up wine company A Grape Night In, and you'll soon be forgetting the drizzle outside...
A Grape Night In are proud to announce a new series 'Toast & Roast', popping-up every Sunday from October through to December at the quirky, cool and homely Studio GI. The wine will take centre stage as we toast to Sundays and roast dinners - relax with a glass of bubbles when you arrive, before settling in to enjoy a selection of wines perfect to go with your roast dinner.
Chef Ricardo Prestes will be cooking up a storm in the kitchen to bring you delicious roasts every week, but we'll be putting a spin on tradition by bringing out the roast in 3 courses; 'The Veg' the starters, 'The Meat' for mains and 'The Sauce' becomes dessert. Roasts will alternate every week (see menus below for more details) and vegetarian options will be available too.
So why not bring a group of friends or bring the family along for either a lazy lunch from 1:30-5pm (we can take groups of up to 12 people), and all topped off  with a quiz from 6pm. Sunday's won't be the same again!
Sample menu:
The Veg: Spicy parsnip soup with crispy onion
The Meat: Roast rump with fondant Hasselback potatoes & spinach cream
The Sauce: Chocolate tart with crystallized horseradish"

When - Sundays from 6th October, 1.30pm - 5pm, with a quiz at 6pm

Where - A location near London Fields, to be revealed on booking

Tickets - Tickets cost £35 from Edible Experiences here and includes bubbles on arrival and three courses with paired wines.
