Lostacos' Mexican Sunday Brunches at The South Pole Saloon in Brixton

Lostacos is on a mission to bring fine Mexican-style brunches to London, and will be serving on Sundays 3rd & 17th December at The South Pole Saloon on Brixton Rooftop (where the Brixton Beach was in the summer).  Expect dishes like their Huevos Motuleños (Poached Eggs atop a crisp hand-pressed tortillas, served with Chorizo, black bean purée and Yucatecan Salsa), crispy plantain, and tangy Avocado Toast-adas; I'm getting hungry just writing about it.  Hurry - tickets are just £15, and slots are selling out fast!

"Take it easy on your Sunday afternoon and let LOSTACOS warm you up this winter with our hearty bottomless brunch inspired by the famous hangover breakfasts of the Yucatan Peninsula
Tuck into our mouthwatering Huevos Motuleños (Poached Eggs atop a crisp hand-pressed tortillas, served with Chorizo, black bean purée and Yucatecan Salsa), crispy plantain, and tangy Avocado Toast-adas. Teaming up with the South Pole Saloon, Brixton Rooftop’s heated covered winter market, LOSTACOS invites you to indulge in our all-you-can-eat brunch and bottomless Mezcal Mimosas, all served with steaming hot coffee.
Wander upstairs into Brixton Rooftops newly launched winter market and peek through the fir tree forest into an enchanted land. Chase away the Sunday Scaries in this saloon-style winter wonderland, debrief last night’s Christmas party or plot upcoming seasonal mischief over bottomless tacos and drinks.
LOSTACOS was born of the belief that a delicate balance of traditional techniques and flavours combined with a composition that invites experimentation, mean the humble taco will soon outstrip the pizza slice as the world’s favourite fast food. Taking inspiration from the fast-paced, spontaneous and fun-filled taco culture found throughout Mexico and the American West Coast, LOSTACOS aims to bring the spirit of these vibrant casual eateries to London."

fodder's December Residency at Curio Cabal in Kingsland Road, E8

fodder, who have been doing a bit of a pop-up tour of London this year, are hosting a season of Christmas pop-ups at Curio Cabal in Kingsland Road, E8, running Fridays to Sundays from 1st - 23rd December 2017.  Expect 'fine dining gone wild' as they put it - with local and foraged ingredients.  They are also offering weekend brunch as part of this pop-up - needs to be done!

"Following two sell-out pop-ups as part of the Borough Wines & Beers’ Chef Development series (at Brewery Below, Islington), and a two-month residency with Platform 1 (the East Dulwich restaurant known for springboarding culinary talent such as Perilla and Smoke & Salt), fodder is ready to announce our next residency at Haggerston’s favourite neighbourhood cafe and pop-up venue, Curio Cabal.
We'll be cooking up what has become our signature style of 'fine dining gone wild', using local ingredients and collaborators as well as produce foraged ourselves. There'll be our usual tasting menu as well as an a la carte option and bar snacks to go with a drinks menu of 'foraged' cocktails and spirit infusions (we're currently working on a crab apple rum that's shaping up to be a tangy taste sensation!), low-intervention wines and craft beers from makers in our community. Excitingly, we’re also working on our first ever brunch menu - bringing some fodder flavour to breakfast favourites - which we’ll be serving on Saturdays and Sundays.
In the spirit of the season, we’ll also be launching our first series of fodder feasts - a Christmas menu for group feasting throughout December. Expect whole cuts, festive flavours and bottle service for the table. Email fodderpopup@gmail.com to enquire."

The 'Nuclear Winter' Immersive Pop-up with Dining, Bars & more in Tottenham Hale

.

Nuclear Winter is an immersive pop-up experience at STYX in Tottenham - next to Tottenham Hale station - running from 29th November 2017 to the end of February 2018.  Based on the 1960s, and the film Dr Strangelove, it has themed bars, a cabaret, and events, and will feature food from pop-up pioneers Blanch & Shock in December, then Kino Vino in January, and chefs curated by Grub Club in February.  Dining tickets are just £55, or you can get in for just £5 (which also get you a free cocktail).

"There is a bomb lodged in our yard and only you can help us defuse it.
Running from November to February - Nuclear Winter is a yuletide festival with a cold war flavour! From Russia to America and back through Cuba we’ve got it all to make your Christmas period go with a bang.
Clamber over the iron curtain for cabaret and entertainment in our demilitarised zone or hang out with Russian babushka’s in a steamy banya, or get invited by the top brass to our Doctor Strangelove inspired CIA supper club.
Enter our Russian atomic courtyard via the first of our manned military checkpoints, passports at the ready.
Bathe in the glow of our  nuclear warhead, or relax with a hot toddy and mulled wine around our hammer and sickle firepit. Whether you take your Russian white, black or irradiated we've got a cocktail with your name on it.
Grab your pals and make the dangerous journey across the iron curtain into the DMZ, our American barracks where the finest cabaret and fiercest live music will be in residence.
Join the revolution for a night of cocktails and the finest company in our Cuban enclave, or arrange a seat at the highest table in the land, with five courses of fine dining in our CIA Situation Room.
Food
BLANCH AND SHOCK in residence in DECEMBER
For Nuclear Winter, Blanch & Shock will be cooking dishes at the meeting point of Russian and American food. What would the spy cook for herself a long way from home? What whispered anecdotes of fast food might be lost in translation? These dinners present the fission and fusion of two iconic cuisines, the journey of a Russian defector as they travel from the inner circle of the Kremlin to the Land of the Free.
Within the intimate environment curated by RIFT, Blanch & Shock will be serving five courses that evoke the sensations of a dichotomous era; pomp and paranoia with the tensions from home and abroad played out on the plate."

When - 29th November - 23rd December 2017, then into 2018
Dining is already sold out until Thurs 7th December
Weds - Sat evenings

Where - STYX, 5 Ashley Road, London, N17 9LJ

Tickets - Dining tickets are £55 from Nuclear Winter here.  Alternatively, it's £5 on the door to get in for the bars etc.

Help Refugees' 'Choose Love' Charity Pop-up Shop in Soho for Christmas 2017

Love this - The charity Help Refugees is opening a pop-up shop to raise money for refugees, with products curated around the refugees' experience - Arrival, Shelter and The Future.  It's open from 24th November 2017 to 31st January 2018 at 18 Broadwick Street, Soho (the Berwick Street end).  To be totally clear, you can't buy these for yourself, but you donate to the refugees.  It's a bit like a physical pop-up manifestation of the 'gift a goat' ads in the newspapers.  Please support them!

"In an effort to free us all from the grips of consumerism this Christmas, UK charity Help Refugees and creative collective Glimpse are teaming up to open Choose Love, the world's first pop-up shop where you can buy tangible gifts for refugees.
The Soho store will give Londoners the opportunity to buy all sorts while also learning about the challenges of the refugee crisis across Europe and other parts of the world.
Everything on sale is themed around the three phrases of a refugee's experience: Arrival, Shelter and the Future. Items include all sorts from nappies to socks, blankets to sanitary towels and medical equipment, with prices starting as low as £4.99.
Choose Love is open seven days a week from November 24 to January 31 2018 at 18 Broadwick Street, W1F 8HS"
