Behind This Wall's World Cup Weekend Pop-up

Behind This Wall, a cocktail bar that first popped-up in Broadway Market last year, is back for a 3 day World Cup special, from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July.  It's at a site next to the Sebright Arms in Coate Street, E2, and will feature lots of Brazilian themed drinks, food from Hanoi Kitchen, and some guest DJs.

"For the World Cup Final weekend, Behind This Wall will be re-opening our bar in an amazing new loft space off the Hackney Road. 
Our mixologists have been busy concocting Brazilian-themed drinks, while food will be provided by the inimitable Hanoi Kitchen. Expect good vibes, mint records, the odd special guest DJ, a few extra surprises and, of course, a screening of the final on our large projector!
Come and find us…"

World Cup Screenings at The Liquor Store in Dalston

The Liquor Store in Gillett Street, Dalston, hosts lots of pop-up events, and for the World Cup period is open daily with large screens, plus a range of interesting beers - Brewdog and more - plus food from Dogtown hotdogs (there seems to be a 'dog' theme going on...) while you watch the games. Freeentry, but £5 guarantees you a place, and gets you your first beer.

Benefit Cosmetics' Women's World Cup Pub 'Gabbi's Head' in Drury Lane

Update - due to the popularity of Gabbi's Head, the run has been extended to 9th August, for  make overs, cocktails, evening entertainment and lots more

This month, for the World Cup, Benefit Cosmetics has opened a 'women's pub' above the Prince of Wales pub at the northern end of Drury Lane.  It's open from noon until midnight daily, with lots of events planned - wine tastings, karaoke, plus cosmetic treatments - in addition to the football being screened.  Not sure if it's strictly 'no men' but there's another pub underneath if men are stopped at the door.

Fat Ronaldo's World Cup Pop-up Bar with food by Smokey Tails in Old Street

Fat Ronaldo's is a World Cup pop-up space with large screens, bars, and food from DJ and Smokey Tails founder Seth Troxler.  Open daily from 4pm - 2am during the World Cup, you can book spaces (recommended) or just turn up (probably best for days when England aren't playing) to enjoy the action in a dedicated space.

"On Thursday 12th June 2014 for the duration of the World Cup, Fat Ronaldo’s World Cup Pop Up will launch in the heart of Shoreditch. Popping up every day for all the game under the arches in the original Shoreditch station building Old Street. Celebrating the start of world’s greatest sporting event,fans from around the world will eat, drink and be merry."

Boteco Brazil Soho's One Month Food & World Cup Pop-up

Boteco Brasil Soho is a one-month pop-up at 123 Charing Cross Road with big screens, fine Brazilian  food and cocktails.  Choose either an eating ticket at £40, or a football & food ticket at £60, and settle back into Brazilian culture.

"Boteco Brasil Soho is London’s most exciting cultural embassy bringing an immersive culinary and cultural experience to London throughout the World Cup. Food and football will be at the heart of Boteco Brasil Soho, with culinary designer, Simone Mattar, creating a wealth of inspirational Boteco-style dishes.  Simone specialises in creating edible art and her food will be inspired by a rich variety of Brazilian flavours including fradinho-beans, fried bananas, acai, chilli and coconut milk.
Alongside Simone’s generous feast, you can enjoy HD screenings of every World Cup Game and be surrounded by the best of Brazilian contemporary art and design.  The venue has been curated by two of the brightest minds on Brazil’s creative scene, London 2012 Casa Brasil curator Cid Blanco and Oskar Metsavaht, who heads up Brazil’s leading fashion house Osklen."

When? Thursday 12th June - Sunday 13th July. Boteco Brasil Soho will be open everyday throughout the World Cup, with an ever-evolving programme of dining and art experiences on non-match days.

Kome LA Street Food's World Cup Specials at Star of Kings in King's Cross

Kome LA Street Food's residency at Star of Kings in Kings Cross takes on a new twist as the World Cup approaches.  During the tournament Kome will be doing daily specials based on one of the teams playing that day.  E.g. they’ll be doing Acarajé (a beach snack from the state of Bahia) when Brazil plays, chorizo croquetas when Spain plays and Dukkochi (Korean chicken skewers) when South Korea plays and many more.  Plus all the games will be on in the pub on the big screen.

"Kome, currently the resident kitchen at the Star of King’s in King’s Cross, whips up LA-inspired street food. Their menu is a mash-up of cuisines that are prominent in the Los Angeles food scene, which have proved to be a huge success with punters at the Star. 
With the World Cup fast approaching and with the Star having three huge screens to watch it on, they've decided to do something that no where else is doing in London. Each day they’ll be showing all the games live and Kome will be creating unique dishes that match up with one of the teams playing that day. For example they’ll be doing Acarajé (a beach snack from the state of Bahia) when Brazil plays, chorizo croquetas when Spain plays and Dukkochi (Korean chicken skewers) when South Korea plays and many more. Their aim is to target the various different nationalities in London by luring them with food that reminds them of home and fuels them to spur on their team. The founder Jack says:
“Living in Latin America for over four years, I picked up numerous recipes that showcase the vibrant and varied street food that one can find from Cartagena to Cordobá and Mexico City to Montevideo. With the World Cup in Latin America, it’s the perfect opportunity to show how their food is ideal for combining with Asian flavours - one only has to look at the rise in popularity of Peruvian/Japanese fusion with the likes of Nobu and Lima leading the way - and this is where LA provides the perfect setting for this.”  
The Star is taking group bookings to ensure people get a table."
