Syd's Vintage Pop-up Shop in Sydenham

Syd's Vintage is the latest pop-up shop to come from the SEE3 Portas Pilot Project in Forest Hill, Kirkham and Sydenham.  Support it!

"Syd’s Vintage are Kirkdale’s newest pop-up shop and sell a select range of must-have vintage and retro clothing, accessories, homeware and furniture. These guys have sold vintage goods in the area before and it went down really well, so the opportunity to operate again was too good to miss.
Louise Brooks, from The Shop Revolution who are delivering the SEE3 Portas Pilot project (which funds these pop-ups), is thrilled to have Syd’s Vintage on board,
“Kirkdale is a really attractive little stretch of shops with some interesting existing offerings which Syd’s Vintage compliments beautifully.  They have a great range of high-end vintage clothing and offerings which I think will really appeal to the local community”.
The set-up is perfect as several established retro furniture businesses are in close proximity, so people can really make an afternoon of browsing antique wares. Everything from bodices and boas to sideboards and chairs are on show in the newly decked-out shop. Owners Clair Draper and Norman Tinker love being part of the SEE3 project, and Clair explains how her long-held interest is coming to fruition,
“I’m really excited to be launching in an area that’s rich in vintage heritage. I’ve been interested in vintage ever since I can remember and I’m looking forward to sharing my passion with the people of Kirkdale and beyond. I’m also really proud to be part of the SEE3 project.”
It’s easy to find too, you can walk from Sydenham station (with East London Line services) in under 10-minutes AND it’s open over the weekends!  We hope to see you there."

When - 23rd April - 30th June, 11am - 6pm, Closed Mondays & Wednesdays

Broken Down Doll's Spring-Summer Collection Pop-up in Westbourne Grove

Regular popper-uppers Broken Down Doll are popping up in Westbourne Grove for 10 days of their very special brand of vintage shopping, to showcase their Spring - Summer 2013 collection.

"Here at Broken Down Doll we are aware that the words ‘vintage shopping’ can make many a sartorialist shudder. We know the associations: the not-very- faint scent of mothballs and extra-hold hairspray. Fear not. That is not what we do.
At The Doll you won’t find vintage shopping stereotypes: no rails groaning under the weight of musty fashion mishaps best left buried; no pieces so perforated with age that a string vest could provide more coverage; no polyester acid trip monstrosities. You get the idea. We’ve suffered through all of the above already (we’re selfless like that) so that we can bring you an altogether more glamorous and civilised experience.
Here’s what you will find at Broken Down Doll: a high-end vintage boutique with only carefully chosen and immaculately preserved pieces, statement accessories and champagne on ice in our fitting room lounge. Our current selection includes timeless classics as well as the original inspirations for this season’s key trends. Whether you want to lighten up with candy colours and dreamy sheer fabrics, keep it clean with bright whites and crisp lines or make maximum impact with graphic prints, the Doll’s got your new season wish list covered."

When - Wednesday 13th - Saturday 23rd March, 10am - 6.30pm

Where - The Old Sorting Office, 222-224 Westbourne Grove, W11 2RH

The Designer Jumble Sale Pop-up Shop near Russell Square

Just in time for Christmas - buy some discarded classic items in a shop curated by a former Vogue online editor, in a space that used to be a Starbucks.  Lots of bargains in store for the discerning browser!

"THE Designer Jumble Sale opens its first store today (6th December) on 70 Lambs Conduit Street in London. The pop-up shop, which will close at the end of the month, promises more covetable luxury items than any of its former shopping events. And, it sounds as if the boutique has already been popular with locals.
"We've sold 20 pieces today just from people walking past the stores, seeing things in the windows and wanting to buy it," said founder and former vogue.co.uk editor Abigail Chisman. "There's been a lot of interest, which is a great situation to be in."
The temporary residency came about suddenly - the space became available in the Bloomsbury street and the landlord launched a competition for potential retailers to enter. Despite stiff competition from the V&A and YMC, Chisman's pitch won - giving her 10 days to move in and open.  The shop houses a host of bargain items from labels such as Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Chloe, Prada, Sonia Rykiel, Sandro and Stella McCartney. Prices start from as little as £20 stretching to £500."

South Feast Presents 'The Wine, The Feast & The Wardrobe' near Orpington

This one isn't strictly in London, but it is within the M25, and it's so fabulous that it definitely deserves a mention.  It's a feast in an 18th century Georgian house, taking place over two weeks (6 evenings & 2 Sunday lunches) in December.

"This December, South Feast brings you a Christmas Dining experience with a difference.
A rare opportunity to enjoy the historic Kevington Hall never before open to the dining public. An evening (or Sunday afternoon) of festive dining and drinking to remember.
Enjoy 1940’s cocktails and atmosphere created by Adam G Manning in our “wartime” rooms before being “evacuated” to the opulence of the grand dining rooms in the house for a five course seasonal feast.
After dinner, find the spare room and climb through the wardrobe to a Narnia of snow, cocktails, music and dancing. The wartime rooms will also re-open, adjoining “Adam’s Bar” serving imaginative drinks until the small hours."

When - 13th - 16th & 20th - 23rd December

Where - Kevington Hall, Crockenhill Road, Kevington, Orpington, Kent BR5 4EP
